Klopp urged to complete massive £108 million Griezmann deal and upset rivals Manchester United

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp should target Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann, according to ESPN FC pundit Craig Burley.

Griezmann this week sent the football world crazy after confirming that he will be leaving Madrid at the end of the season in search of pastures new, with the likes of Manchester United and Barcelona linked with a move.

United have been keeping tabs on Griezmann for the last few seasons but have failed to complete a transfer deal as the Frenchman had not intention of quitting the Spanish giants.

But he will be available for the highest fee this season, with some reports suggesting United were prepared to pay the £108 million fee for the services of Griezmann.

But Burley has urged Liverpool boss Klopp to make a move,.

“I actually think that Liverpool would be a great place for Griezmann to go this summer,” he said on the ESPN website

“Liverpool are very much a team on the up at the moment and he could aid Roberto Firmino who also likes to drop deep.

“Liverpool are a huge club who are fighting for league titles with Manchester City and have reached the last two Champions League finals.

“I don’t know if they have got enough money to do it but I wouldn’t go to Manchester United, that’s for sure.

“You talk about how good Griezmann would be linking up with Messi and Barcelona, what about with Liverpool’s front three?

“You look at that and we talk about Liverpool needing that strength in depth, he would add that and Firmino or Salah some games might sit out.”

Liverpool alread have one of the best attacks in world football and signing Griezmann would be a replacement for the likes of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah or Roberto Firmino. So it will be very unlikely to see the Frenchman make a big money move to Anfield during the summer window.

It will be much more likely that United try and sign the Frenchman as they are in more need of adding some superstars to the attack.
