Madrid star opens up on possible Prem move, Pogba replacement speaks on possible Man United move, (Video) Why striker deserves contract
Here is a roundup of the latest Liverpool and Manchester United news from icfootballnews.
Real Madrid teenager Martin Odegaard has responded to reports that he could make a shock move to the likes of Manchester United in the January window.
With constant rumours in the British media all claiming Paul Pogba is done at Old Trafford after falling out of favour with the fans over his transfer saga over the past few months, focus for Solskjaer has now switched on to whom he will be signing to replace the Frenchman
Solskjaer does not want to lose the Frenchman in the coming windows, but it seems Pogba has his heart on leaving the club and has his scouts out and about searching for potential targets, and one name that has been mentioned in the media lately is Odegaard, who is one of the games brightest talents.
Real Madrid shipped the young Norwegian to their La Liga rivals on a two-year loan deal and Odegaard has got off to a flying start with two goals and two assists in seven La Liga appearances, leading to speculation that the Gunners could make a move to bring him to the Premier League in January.
But amid all the transfer speculation surrounding his future, the 20-year-old has now spoken out on his future. ‘My intention is to stay [at Sociedad] two years and I think that’s important for me, too,’ said Odegaard on the Sky Sports website
‘I have had two seasons in a row where I’ve changed teams. To have some stability is good [and] this is a great club and hopefully we can get European football for next season.’
There is no doubt in many peoples minds that Pogba will leave the club in the coming windows, especially as he suggested in the summer that he was desperate to depart the club. But if United do sell, then they need a more established player than Odegaard.
Ajax star Donny Van Der Beek has opened up about a possible move to Manchester United during the January window.
The midfielder has been part of Ajax’s run to the Champions League semi-finals and scored the decisive goal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as the Dutch side took a 1-0 lead against Mauricio Pochettino’s side in the first leg, and was a star performer in the second leg loss to the London club.
He has become one of the most coveted players in Europe after helping Ajax win the League, the Dutch Cup as well as Champions League success and there has been a lot of transfer speculation that some of Europes biggest clubs could make a move.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has become a fan of the exciting Dutchman after seeing him impressive performances, and with the Red Devils boss keen to improve his midfield this coming window, he is ready to battle the likes of Napoli, Barcelona and Real Madrid for De Beeks signature.
But amid all the speculation surrounding his future, Van De Beek has opened up on the possibility of leaving Ajax this coming winter window and admitted that he has no intention of leaving the Dutch giants half way through the season.
He told Voetbal International: “I will end the year with Ajax. Maybe at one point in my career I would change clubs in the winter, but currently I won’t do that.”
SSolskjaer will have some funds available in the Winter window to try and acquire the right kind of players for United, and Van De Beek has shown real quality in the Premier League and could be an ideal signing for the Red Devils..
His movement, creativity and goal output are up there with some of the best in Europe right now, and he has shown that he is able to compete against even the best players in the game.
