Liverpool ‘increase contract offer’ after meeting summer release clause
LIVERPOOL have significantly increased their contract offer to Celta Vigo star Gabri Veiga in an attempt to get a deal done.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has already completed the summer signing of Alexis Mac Allister – but is keen to add some more players to the squad in order to freshen up his side.
Celta Vigo narrowly avoided relegation from La Liga this season but Veiga remained one of their standout performers throughout the campaign with 11 goals and four assists in the league.
Veiga still has three years remaining on his contract with Celta Vigo but his deal includes a €40m (£34.4m) buyout clause, and according to Spanish publication SPORT. The Reds have met Veiga’s £34m release clause.
The reports adds that they have tabled an improved contract offer. But the La Liga giants have not yet managed to close out a deal.
Meanwhile Newcastle, who will be playing Champions League next season, are also eyeing a deal for the ace and have no issues paying the 21-year-old’s release clause. And the Magpies would be prepared to offer a long and top-level contract.

Another day – another player linked with Liverpool.
Veiga is a very exciting young midfielder that will not cost as much as some of the other players linked with LIVERPOOL.
He will be brought in to add some depth to the side – something that Reds really need – especially as Klopp needs to replace some of his ageing stars.
He is not the type of signing that will get Liverpool fans excited about next season – but he is a player that could develop into a crowd pleaser.
