Game-changing Suarez? Arsenal sent transfer warning over new signing from Barcelona
Spanish football expect Sid Lowe is not convinced Arsenal midfielder Denis Suarez is the game-changing buy that many are expecting to see.
After months of speculation, Gunners boss Unai Emery finally managed to get a loan deal done for Suarez until the end of the season with the option of a permanent deal in the summer if certain terms are met.
Emery is delighted with the deal and belives that Suarez will be that game-changer that has been missing in recent weeks, especially since Mesut Ozil has struggled to get the kind of game time that he wants after reports suggested Emery has lost faith in the German world cup winner.
But Lowe has warned many associated with Arsenal that Suarez may not be the answer that Emery is looking for, telling the Daily Star: “Well I must admit I think a lot of this will depend on what’s around him rather than on Denis himself.
“I think Denis Suarez, when you watch him play, he’s a guy that will occasionally create something very, very nice out of not very much.
“But he’s fundamentally a player who fits well in a functioning team, who moves the ball well, who’s positionally and tactically very bright.
“His passing is good, he will occasionally as I say provide assists, occasionally score goals, but not a huge amount of them.
“So I think the doubt I have is whether Arsenal expect him to immediately go in and have a huge impact on everyone around him.
“I think he’s more likely to have an impact as a technical, continuity player, than necessarily a player that raises the level of the entire team.
“So I think a lot will depend on him, obviously, but I think a lot will depend also on how well he fits with those players around him in the rest of the midfield.”
Here is what we think.
Suarez was tipped to become a big player in the game but has not fulfilled his potential, maybe he will get that chance under Emery?
