Van Dijk warning, Lacazette message, Lozano wants move, Umtiti wanted in Liverpool Man United Wednesday
Here is the daily roundup of Liverpool and Manchester United news and gossip
Mexico manager Tata Martino has told the likes of Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea transfer target Hirving Lozano is ready for a top-club move.
The Mexican winger impressed for his country during the World Cup and his performances caught the attentions of a number of Premier league clubs, with Chelsea, Spurs and United all chasing to try and nail down his signature.
But that. could all be about to change in the summer transfer window, after his National team boss claimed that Lozano is ready to take that next step and play at the very highest level.
He said on the Sky Sports website: “Taking an intermediate step in Dutch football or Portuguese football, that has been traditional for Latino players. I think Hirving has had an influential time in Holland and shown he can be a player who is incredibly valuable and can make the jump to the biggest clubs in Europe.
“It’s clear, I think from the analysis side of the player, he’s absolutely ready.”
Arsenal star Alexandre Lacazette has warned the likes of Tottenham, Manchester United and Chelsea that they are excited about the top four chase.
After a difficult first season in England in which many of his decisions have been criticised by many in the media, and some loyal Gunners fans, Unai Emery finds himself battling for that final to four spot and of course Champions League football next season.
The Gunners, who host mid-table Newcastle after the international break, have been preparing for their tough Premier League run-in at a warm-weather training camp in Dubai as they look to leap rivals Spurs into third and add to the gap between them and United and Chelsea.
And Lacazette has told the top four rivals that himself and his team-mates are excited about the chase for Champions League football, but are ready for the battle.
Lacazette told Sport360: ‘It’s going to be difficult of course, but exciting as well. It’s been a good battle all season so we just want to win every single game and finish third or fourth. It will be good for us and our fans.’
‘It was a good idea by the club to bring the players available here to Dubai.
‘It’s been good weather, it was a good pitch, great facilities. Everyone enjoyed it and we worked well for one week. Now we have to come back to London and stay focused on the Premier League and Europa League.’
Virgil Van Dijk has promised Liverpool fans that they will fight until the bitter end to try and win the Champions League and Premier League titles.
After tweaking his squad in the last few transfer window, Jurgen Klopp has built one of the best sides in Europe right now and the Reds are one of the favourites to win the Champions League and the favourite to win the Premier League, if they can beat off Manchester City.
And one player that has been making an impact on Klopp’s side since his move to Liverpool from Southampton is that of Van Dijk, who has helped the Reds become a defensive force in Europe, and has developed into arguably the best central defender in world football right now.
And Van Dijk has admitted that he could not be happier with the development of the team right now, and they will fight until the very end in a bid to land the two big trophies.
‘With Liverpool, we are where we want to be. Everything is positive,’ said the Dutchman on the Sky Sports website.
‘We are in the race for the Premier League, and in the race for the Champions League.
‘It is going to be very tough but we will challenge until the end in both of those competitions.’
Reports have claimed Arsenal are eager to win the race to sign unhappy Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti in the summer transfer window.
Umtiti signed for Barcelona way back in 2016 and has become an integral part of the Spaniards side over the past few seasons, but there has been a lot of speculation that he could be sold to help finance a move for Ajax superstar defender Matthijs De Ligt.
De Ligt is one of the most highly-regarded defenders in world football and has a number of top clubs chasing a possible deal, but it is believed that he would prefer a move to the Spanish Champions rather than a move to the Premier League or PSG.
And according to reports, Barcelona are willing to cash in on the £21.4 million buy at the end of the season, with a whole host of Premier League clubs looking to try and get a transfer deal done.
But according to reports on Mundo Deportivo, Arsenal are also interested in a deal for the France international and are ready to beat off the interest of their Premier League rivals, with Unai Emery desperate to add some more superstars to his back-line in the summer.
Raul Sanllehi, Arsenal’s director of football, played a key role in signing in Umtiti for Barca in 2016 and could be a major influence in the Gunners’ push to land the 25-year-old this summer.
