Lucas welcomes new Tottenham signing, ex-Spurs star reacts to news Tottenham are closing in on Dier partner and exciting Bale message sent

Lucas welcomes new signing Vinicius, Bent makes Dier claim and Bale with Kane and Son a frightening sight in Tottenham news roundup…

Lucas Moura has been delighted to welcome Carlos Vinicius to Tottenham.

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho was seeking to add a new striker to the squad towards the back-end of the transfer window, as having Harry Kane in the side was simply not enough, and they decided to make a move for Vinicius.

Vinicius has been making a real name for himself over at Benfica and netted an impressive 24 goals last season, he sealed his loan move to Tottenham on transfer deadline day and Lucas has opened up on his new signing.

He told the club website: “I’m very happy because I have a Brazilian guy with me!” said Lucas, born and bred in Sao Paulo. “I can speak Portuguese, I can joke with him about the things we speak about in Brazil. So, I’m very happy.

“Carlos is a great player, for sure. He will help us a lot. He’s a very humble guy, a very simple guy, and I’m so happy for him. He’s a very good player, a player we were missing in the squad, and for sure he will help.

“I’m so happy for him because he deserves it. He had such a good season with Benfica. Let’s help him now, and he will be good for us.”

Many Spurs fans do not know who the the striker is, but he has been making a name for himself and will bring some excitement to this Tottenham squad.

Dimitar Berbatov says Gareth Bale joining Harry Kane and Son Heung-min in the Tottenham attack is a “frightening” prospect.

After months of speculation, Tottenham pulled off one of the deals of the summer when they agreed to bring Bale back to London, as he sought a move away from Real Madrid to reignite his career.

Kane and Son have already racked up 14 goals between them in all competitions this term, with Berbatov of the opinion that Bale is capable of completing a deadly triumvirate once he is ready to feature.

“I’ve been so impressed with Spurs of late, and we can’t take anything away from them. I think even if United kept 11 men, Spurs would still have won easily,” the former Tottenham forward told Betfair .

“The partnership between Kane and Son is only getting stronger, and the addition of Bale soon is frightening to think about. I was also impressed with Ndombele and Sissoko in the middle of the pitch, and Hojbjerg from Southampton was also excellent.

“They were great – aggressive, read the game well, bullied United really. I want to see Ndombele get more time now, and he is proving that he deserves it.

“Overall for Spurs, it was a perfect performance. It’s interesting that the run of form has come as they signed Bale, even though he hasn’t played a minute! Hopefully, he isn’t training properly heavy sessions, but interactions around the club can have an impact on the squad, and bringing his winning mentality to these guys.

“If he can transfer that on to the pitch, that will honestly be just terrifying for all other clubs. We all saw the video of Bale with the win over Chelsea, and you can see how much he still cares and how passionate he is.

“At Madrid, for all he was training, he wasn’t really part of the team, and he felt left out. He would not have felt part of the team, as he wasn’t allowed to contribute anything.

“The opposite is when you are part of the team – even if injury is keeping you out, you still feel part of everything and you will want your team to win.”

Darren Bent has insisted Jose Mourinho cannot pair Toby Alderweireld and Eric Dier as Tottenham close in in a deal to sign Swansea star Joe Rodon.

Spurs have signed Brazilian striker Carlos Vinicius on a season-long loan from Benfica, after Sergio Reguilon, Matt Doherty, Joe Hart and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg joined on permanent deals in the summer, with Gareth Bale also coming back to Tottenham on a season-long loan.

But Jose Mourinho has been desperate to sign a new defender this summer and the club were actually in talks to seal a transfer deal for Skriniar, however, Milan refused to lower their asking price and Tottenham have had to switch their attentions to Rodon.

Tottenham were in talks over an £18 million deal, but were unable to get a transfer deal done before the closing of the first transfer window, but they still have a chance to get a deal done.

Due to the impacts of the COVID-19 lockdown, the summer market has been reshaped to help aid clubs, with a ten-week window opened on July 27 and ran until Monday, October 5, closing at 11pm.

However, Premier League clubs can no longer do business with teams in Europe and around the world but they can look to keep spending, This is because the top-flight and EFL have agreed on a second, domestic-only window until October 16th.

And ahead of his possible arrival to the club, bent has opened up and suggested that Rodon will be partnering Dier at the back for Tottenham, as he is a player that Mourinho clearly loves: “Clearly Mourinho likes Dier,” Bent told Football Insider.

“Mourinho has really liked him for a long time. He tried to sign him when he was at United.

“Even that stretch of games where they played so many games in a small amount of time, Eric Dier played in all of them.

“I think he trusts him and really likes him.

“I’ve got questions about his mobility a little bit, at the very highest level where you’ve got maybe speed demons around him. I question that side of it.

“As far as reading the game and defending properly I like Eric Dier and I think he’s good.

“Clearly Mourinho rates him and they’ve got one there.

“It’s who do you play alongside him? If you play him and Toby both very good footballers, very strong but speed wise, pace wise it becomes quite predictable.

“You can’t play a high line if you play them two because the moment you play a two with Toby and Eric Dier if the centre-forward is quick you put it behind them and they can’t live with it.”
