£50m rated Chelsea star Luiz tells board he wants Juventus target Sarri at club next season

Brazilian defender David Luiz has urged Chelsea to keep hold of Maurizio Sarri this summer, amid Juventus speculation.

Sarri was appointed last summer to get Chelsea back inside the top four and playing Champions League football, and he achieved that by claiming third in the Premier League.

But he went and done one better by securing a Europa League win against London rivals Arsenal after a impressive display from his players earned Chelsea a 4-1 victory.

However, Juventus are believed to be keen on appointing Sarri as a replacement for Massimiliano Allegri with some reports even suggesting that his agent is flying to London to try and negotiate a move away from Stamford Bridge.

But Luiz has urged Chelsea to keep the Italian.

Asked whether the club should keep Sarri, Luiz replied on the Metro: ‘Yes. He’s doing great. He did great during the season even with all the difficulties we had.

‘It’s his first season at Chelsea, his first in English football. He is a great person, a great guy, a great manager and we finished in the best way for him because we finished winning a trophy in his way.

‘Even after we conceded a goal at 3-1 we continued to play his philosophy and continued to try to score more goals. It was the best end of the season for him and he deserved that.

‘It is for the club to decide, but I am so happy with him. Sometimes we are with the guys we work with more than our families. We make some connections. I think Maurizio did that with us. He has some connections with us, that’s why he loves this group.’

Sarri has proven that he is very capable of winning things with this current crop of Chelsea players, and considering the club cannot buy any players this summer, a new manager may not have the same effect.

How could Chelsea sack a man that finished third in the Premier League and won the Europa League title?
