Chelsea announcement IMMINENT – Dutchman having medical this week – six-year contract to be signed!

Chelsea’s Ian Maatsen has a broad agreement on personal terms with Aston Villa

His performances for the German side has meant that they are very keen on making his move a permanent one – but there are also a section on CHELSEA fans that want the club too bring him back to Stamford Bridge.

Dortmund did not have an option to buy Maatsen has part of their loan agreement with Chelsea, meaning that the two clubs needed to negotiate a fee for the Dutchman this summer, but were unable to reach such an agreement.

That allowed Aston Villa to swoop in and make contact with Chelsea over a possible deal for the Dutchman – and after a few weeks of transfer rumours – it seems that the defender is closing in on that move to join Unai Emery.

The final details on a six-year contract are being sorted now. It’s understood he will have his medical in Germany this weekend. Maatsen is part of the Netherlands Euro 2024 squad.

The fee for the 22-year-old is understood to be to be between £35m and £40m and it will rise with add-ons

There are alot of CHELSEA fans that want to see Maatsen given a chance in the side from next season – he has been brilliant in that Dortmund side this season.

Aston Villa are prepared to pay big money for the lad – they will be getting a very good player – so alot of the Chelsea fans will be disappointed to see that Maatsen will be leaving the club very soon.

As we said – he could have been great for Chelsea – it has come as quite a shock to see that he will be departing the club this summer – probably after the Euros.
