£50M powerhouse wants to be at Man United this summer – fans told

talkSPORT’s Sam Matterface has revealed that Harry Maguire wants to stay and fight for his place at Man United.

After a very disappointing season in that Man United shirt last season – in which Maguire has fallen down the pecking order – the England International has now been dropped as Captain of the Red Devils.

That has led to all sorts of speculation surrounding the immediate future of Maguire – with claims in the media which have suggested that Chelsea are now very much interested in a potential deal for the defender, who is valued at £50 million.

Maguire’s future remains up in the air, but if you believe the words of Matterface – he wants to stay and fight for his place in that Man United side.

WHAT HAS BEEN SAID – 

Speaking on talkSPORT, Matterface said: “I understand that he [Maguire] remains relaxed about the situation. I think he’s told everybody that he’s going to knuckle down and work for the team. He’s got time left on his contract.

“I don’t think he’d be adverse to bit of public clarity from Manchester United. Does the manager need to come out and actually say, ‘Harry Maguire is not for sale, so nobody waste time in making a bid’ because it just stops everyone talking about it.

“I understand that Erik ten Hag has told him privately that he doesn’t want him to leave, he just wants to pick his own captain.

“If you don’t come out and say that to the general public, everybody believes that by taking away the captaincy, then you are saying the complete opposite.

“He wants to play, there’s no doubt about that. I think he’s pretty relaxed about the fact if he’s told by Manchester United he wants to leave, there will be people who come in for him.”

SHOULD MAN UNITED KEEP MAGUIRE?

He wont cause much of a fuss in that changing room – he will be working hard to get back into the side – and he will be useful when injuries are picked up – there is no reason for Man United to sell right now.
