Man United agree sign Seria A star, Amorim told sign 16-goal star, Benfica ace makes Man United decision
Here is a roundup of the top Manchester United news, gossip and transfer latest from icfootballnews that we think you may have missed today…
Former Red Devils star Rio Ferdinand has opened up and encouraged Manchester United to sign on-loan Galatasaray star Victor Osimhen this transfer window.
Registering 16 goals across his first season at the club was promising but Rasmus Hojlund’s contributions have dropped off during his second season, scoring just two league goals, and it is believed that Amorim wants a new striker for the club.
Osimhen has been long tipped for a big money move to the Premier League or PSG, but no such transfer materialised last summer, and In the end he joined Turkish giants Galatasaray where he has so far scored 16 goals in just 20 appearances.
Ferdinand believes the club should reignite their pursuit of Victor Osimhen: ‘I’ve watched Hojlund closely the last two games… it just doesn’t add up,’ an exasperated Ferdinand said on his YouTube channel.
‘I’d be going to get Osimhen now if we can do it from a financial standpoint. Get him on loan now! Guarantees you someone who can get on the end of things, scores goals, experienced, done it at the top level.
‘I just feel like because Hojlund was £70m-odd we’re expecting the finished article. Unfortunately [he’s not]. He’s a young striker but normally a striker of that age comes in and learns off someone. He’s got nobody to learn off.
‘He’s looking at [Joshua] Zirkzee whose like him. They both need someone to learn what it takes to be a Manchester United No.9.
‘What are they doing every day? What type of drills are they doing? In games, how are they adapting to each centre-half? All of these questions he’s got in his head, he’s got nobody sitting there going, “this is what to do”.
‘A big part of the recruitment now is buying young talented players but there needs to be an element of who are they going to learn from on the job.’
DORGU AGREEMENT REACHED
Manchester United have reached an agreement to sign Patrick Dorgu from Lecce, according to reports in Italy over the past 24 hours.
Ruben Amorim has been at Man United for a few weeks now, but despite all the hype that surrounded the Portuguese boss, he does not have the players that he needs to take the club back challenging for that Premier League title.
There are certain areas of the pitch that need to be addressed, and adding a full-back to the side is something that Amorim really wanted this transfer window, and now it seems that Dorgu could be making that move to Old Trafford.
He has racked up 57 appearances for the Serie A club, chipping in with five goals, but It is claimed Dorgu will make an immediate switch to Old Trafford for an initial £29million – with a further £4m in possible add-ons.
The news comes after Dorgu’s former manager urged him to reject Manchester United – Jens Fonnskov Olsen managed Dorgu when he was part of Denmark’s Under-19s setup.
He told Tipsbladet: “If I have to be a little cheeky, I hope he chooses something other than Manchester United right now.
“I don’t know if it’s a bad fit, but they’re just in a period where… I don’t know if you can afford to say no to United, but maybe somewhere where there’s a little more structure and where things fit in with his pace.
“Sometimes things have to go in the right order, if you can say it like that. The thing is that there are many paths to the goal.”

Dorgu is a very exciting talent that could be a very solid signing for Manchester United, so if he is able to handle the pressures of playing for such a massive club, he could be a very good signing for the Red Devils that is for sure.
FERNANDEZ DECISION MADE
Alvaro Fernandez has seemingly made the decision that he will not be joining Manchester United this January window, and will instead stay with Benfica until the end of the season.
The left-back joined Benfica on loan from the Red Devils last winter and he went on to sign on a permanent basis for £5 million at the end of the campaign, and Fernandez has since established himself as a key player for the Portuguese giants. Amorim appears keen on re-signing him with the buy-back clause in his deal.
But according to The Athletic, Fernandez’s preference is to see out the current campaign with Benfica. The report states sources close to the player suggest he is not considering a move this month
The defender recently revealed how happy he is at Benfica right now: “I have people close to me and they are the ones who look at it more,” Fernandez told Spanish publication Marca. “To be honest, I don’t pay much attention to it.
“I’m focused on what I have to do because I have a game every three days. It’s always nice to have teams call you and everyone wants to grow, but I’m doing very well here. United have a signed purchase option, but I’m very happy here
“I have a five-year contract with Benfica. I want to win titles and continue to grow personally, as I am still only 21 years old. I want to win, whether it is with Spain or with Benfica, to continue to grow.”

The man left Manchester United and has started to make a name for himself, Amorim knows the Portuguese League and knows what players could improve his Man United side over the next few windows.
That left-back area is a problem and maybe Fernandez could be the answer, but it seems that he would nee some persuading to make the move back to the club
