Man United announcement made: Red Devils confirms late midfielder deal
Manchester United midfielder Dan Gore has agreed to join Luton Town on loan until the end of the 2026/27 season, subject to registration.
The Academy graduate will spend the campaign with the Hatters as he looks to gain further first-team experience and continue his development away from Old Trafford.
Gore, 22, will link up with Luton under manager Jack Wilshere, with the move providing the midfielder with another opportunity to establish himself in senior football.
The loan represents another chapter in Gore’s development, having already spent time away from United with three different EFL League One clubs.
The midfielder first stepped into Manchester United’s senior setup during the 2023/24 campaign after progressing through the club’s academy system. He made his first-team debut against Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup before making his Premier League debut against Aston Villa.
Gore’s emergence followed an impressive spell at youth level, with the midfielder part of the Manchester United side that won the FA Youth Cup in 2022.
Following his senior breakthrough, Gore was sent out on loan to Port Vale, where he gained his first extended experience of competitive men’s football.
The following campaign saw him join Rotherham United, before returning to the Millers on a temporary basis again last season.
His latest move to Luton will give him another chance to play regular senior football while continuing to develop his game in a competitive environment.
The Hatters will hope Gore can bring energy and technical quality to their midfield, while United will be keen to see the Academy graduate make significant progress during his time in Bedfordshire.
With Luton managed by former Arsenal and England midfielder Wilshere, Gore will have the opportunity to work under a coach who understands the demands of developing young players and making the transition from academy football to the professional game.
For Manchester United, the loan is another example of the club using temporary moves to help young players gain valuable experience before assessing their long-term futures.
This looks like a sensible next step for Gore. At this stage of his career, consistent senior football is arguably more important than spending another season primarily playing academy football.
His previous spells with Port Vale and Rotherham have already given him an understanding of League One, but joining Luton offers a fresh environment and another opportunity to demonstrate his qualities.
Working under Wilshere could also prove valuable, particularly given the manager’s own experience of progressing from youth football to the highest level.
