Dont sign Pochettino as Manchester United board told to hire impressive Premier League alternative
Alan Brazil has backed Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers for the top job at Manchester United instead of Mauricio Pochettino.
There is a growing feeling in the media that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is heading towards those exit signs at Old Trafford after a stuttering start to the new season, has brought the wrong kind of feeling around the club.
United have slipped to 15th in the Premier League after losing three of their opening six fixtures, with Crystal Palace, Tottenham and Arsenal all running out comfortable winners in Manchester, and A 2-1 defeat to Istanbul Basaksehir in a Champions League group stage clash in Turkey on Wednesday piled more pressure on the boss.
That has led to speculation in the media that the club have now approached Pochettino about taking the role at Old Trafford, as the Argentine boss is keen to get back into management and manage a top Premier League side.
But Brazil suggested Rodgers as an alternative candidate when asked to address the possibility of Pochettino being drafted in at the Theatre of Dreams, telling talkSPORT: “I’d give Brendan the job at Manchester United.
“If Ole is to go then I would look no further than Rodgers.
“He’s done a brilliant job at Leicester. Yes, he’s had money, but I don’t care, look at the table as well.
“He is top class.”
The Scottish head coach, who has also taken in spells at Swansea, Liverpool and Celtic, guided Leicester to a fifth-place finish in the top flight last season, and is easily regarded as one of the finest coaches in the English game.
Look, it will surely not be too long before United get rid of Solskjaer, he is not doing the job that he is being paid to do and although Rodgers would be a great choice, can fans really see him leaving Leicester right now?
