Man United Chief confirms £300k-a-week star ‘WILL BE’ a Red Devil this deadline day
Manchester United chief executive Omar Berrada has reportedly provided a major indication that Marcus Rashford will remain at Old Trafford this season, bringing an end to much of the speculation surrounding the England international’s future.
Rashford had been strongly linked with a return to Barcelona following an impressive loan spell with the Spanish giants, where he appeared to rediscover his confidence and attacking form.
Barcelona ultimately decided against making the move permanent, leaving Rashford facing an uncertain future as he returned to Manchester United for the new campaign.
The forward has since rejoined the first-team setup and has already featured in both of United’s opening Premier League matches. His involvement against Hull City and Ipswich Town represents a significant development after months of uncertainty over whether he would remain part of the club’s plans.
Berrada’s latest comments have now further strengthened the belief that Rashford will stay at United for the 2026/27 season, he recently said: “We will have our new signings Andrey [Santos], Youri [Tielemans], Karl [Darlow], Tynan [Thompson] and Carlos [Baleba] here this afternoon.
“We know you will give them all a very warm welcome and get behind them as they begin their Manchester United journey. We’re also very pleased to welcome Marcus [Rashford] back to the team. We believe that they will all help to improve the squad as we compete on multiple fronts.
Michael Carrick has also spoken highly of Rashford following his display against Ipswich. The Manchester United manager said: “He’s adding to the group for us, for sure. I’ve known him for a while, and then he wasn’t here when I’ve come back, and now he is.
“I think he’s making the most of that for us and for him as well, to have the opportunity to be here. He’s one of our own. He’s living his dream, playing here now and trying to be successful and win. Whatever’s gone on, I think part of this club, there’s players that have come back sometimes, or players that maybe were going to leave, didn’t leave.
His loan spell at Barcelona demonstrated that he is capable of rediscovering his best football when given confidence and responsibility. Rather than cutting ties with a player who has already shown he can perform at the highest level, United should give him the opportunity to rebuild his reputation at Old Trafford.
The fact Rashford has already featured in both opening Premier League matches is particularly encouraging. It suggests he is not simply being retained as squad depth but remains part of the first-team picture.
Manchester United supporters will understandably want to see consistency, but Rashford has the talent to become an important player again.
