Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news and gossip that we think you guys could have missed today –

Liverpool legend John Barnes warned Everton ace Jarrad Branthwaite to be careful before a potential move to Manchester United.

Manchester United made two bids for Branthwaite, the first worth £35million with £10m in add-ons and the second worth £45m plus £5m in add-ons – the Toffees value him at £70m.

The centre-back agreed personal terms with Manchester United and was offered a deal worth £160,000-a-week, but in the end, the Red Devils decided to make the move for Leny Yoro after they failed to agree a deal with Everton for their star defender.

But according to The Daily Mail, the England international won’t pen fresh terms at Goodison Park unless the Merseysiders can match the Red Devils’ proposal, which is something they cannot do right now.

A potential move to Manchester United have wavered in recent weeks since the arrival of Yoro – But Man United still rate the defender very highly and could make a move for Branthwaite should he come onto the market this summer, or in the future.

Barnes told mybettingsites.co.uk: ‘So what United have to do is to get that right before they’re talking about signing players for £70million and young players who are inexperienced.

‘He can’t go to United like Jadon Sancho went there for a big fee and the harmony isn’t right.

‘So yeah, I think that for any player they have to think hard about going to United. Particularly young players who are inexperienced.”

‘They have to think about whether they’re going to United at the wrong time. It’s a great club, but it just may be the wrong time.

‘And if they’re looking for young players to come here to change that situation, that’s not what’s going to happen. The unity within the club from top to bottom has to change, fans included.’

CHILWELL HINT DROPPED –

Enzo Maresca has dropped a massive hint that Manchester United target Ben Chilwell could leave the club this transfer window.

Over the past few weeks there has been some speculation that Chelsea are very much open to the idea of letting Chilwell depart the club, with a move to Manchester United interested in a potential deal for the star.

He has been plagued by injuries over the past few seasons and after impressing at the Euros – it is widely believed that marc Cucurella will be the number one left-back for Enzo Maresca next season.

Now – amid all the speculation and rumours – Maresca has seemingly hinted that there is no longer a space in the side for Chilwell – Asked if he sees Chilwell as an out-and-out left-back or a player who could play slightly further up the pitch down the left, Maresca said: ‘Chilly is a left-back, for sure. I see him as I’ve always seen him like a left full-back.’

‘His situation is a bit delicate.

‘It’s delicate in terms of we are trying to find a solution for him in terms of position, we are trying to find the right position for him. He probably needs a bit of time.

‘We want players that can perform 100 per cent and for sure in these two or three weeks.

‘Malo [Gusto] and Reece [James] can both do the work required of them and both finish with more assists or more dangerous in the way they were being used in the past because in that position they are good enough to make last passes because their quality, they are both very good.’

When fit – Chilwell is a quality defender that could offer Chelsea alot – so if he gets sold – hopefully it is a move that works out for the man as he has been plagued but injuries during his time at the Blues.

But Manchester United could just be signing a man plagued by injuries if they do make a move.

FANS GETTING EXCITED ABOUT MUSIALA –

Manchester United fans are getting excited about the prospect of signing Jamal Musiala after a comment from their new signing.

There has been alot of players linked with a move to the club – but now it seems that they amy be able to sign one of their long-term targets, Musiala – ad he is seemingly a player that Bayern are open to selling in the coming transfer window.

Reports suggest that German giants Bayern Munich are open to the sale of six of their stars this summer following the arrival of Vincent Kompany, and could accept an offer for the right price for Musiala.

Joshua Zirkzee joined United in a £34million deal from the Serie A side earlier this month. And he revealed he tried to lure Musiala to Old Trafford

The striker featured alongside the midfielder at Bayern Munich, where he played before signing for Bologna, and when a young fan asked Zirkzee if he could try and persuade the German to sign for the Red Devils.

He replied saying: “I’ve tried, I’ve tried.”

As much as we would love to see Musiala make the move to the Premier League and test himself against the best players – we cant see him coming to England anytime soon.

At this stage of his career – he is happy at Bayern – he does not want to leave – he has a massive contract and is one of the clubs biggest players, so despite all the rumours and all the links with a move away – it will not happen.

Manchester United have done some decent business this summer – but they should try and stick to moving for players that they can actually sign without Champions League football – there is only a few weeks left in the transfer window to keep on improving that side.
