Man United free sign Worldie Italian – United sent £87M transfer message – Midfielder message sent to United board

Here is a roundup of the top Manchester United news and gossip that we think you guys could have missed today –

Manchester United have been warned over the suitability of Leeds United starlet Archie Gray.

Gray, 18, enjoyed a successful full season with the Whites as they suffered disappointment in their quest to return to the Premier League. As a result, the England under-21 courted attention from the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United ahead of the summer window.

There has been alot of speculation about what Players the Duthcman will look to sign this transfer window – and for the right amount of money – Gray could be some decent back-up for the big players.

However, former Leeds defender Danny Mills feels he isn’t quite ready and has warned the likes of Manchester United: “He’s not been played in his preferred position; I think his best position is midfield,” said Mills, speaking to Football League World.

“He’s been farmed out to right-back where he’s performed brilliantly. My fear was if Leeds got into the Premier League, and he plays right-back, he might get a little bit lost.

“The quality that you’re suddenly playing against – Jeremy Doku, Mohamed Salah. It’s another level. This is not the Championship anymore. And my fear would be that Leeds would bring in a right-back with experience and he might not make that midfield berth.

“I actually think for Archie’s development, even if they’d got promoted, it wouldn’t be a bad thing if he went and did a year in the Championship in midfield. He’s very, very young, learning his game in midfield.

‘Now, with all the experience that he has, I think it could be one of the best things that happened to him.”

All this attention for the lad is great  – he had an amazing season last year – but he is not ready to make that step up and joining one of the big clubs linked could actually hinder his development.

The smart decision would be to stay put – but if Manchester United do come calling – it will be very hard for the lad to turn down such a move.

Kvaratskhelia update given –

Fabrizio Romano posted a statement from Napoli regarding Manchester United target Khvicha Kvaratskhelia last night.

The Summer window is now open and there is alot of speculation in the media about who that Manchester United board will look to try and bring in to help get the club challenging for trophies and Champions League football once again.

United had a shocking season under Erik Ten Hag last season and are lacking some top-level players in key areas of the pitch that will help them get back into the chase for a top four spot, which led to reports that Kvaratskhelia is wanted.

It’s claimed that Napoli will demand in excess of €100million (£87million) for Kvaratskhelia, though they are hoping to fend off interest with a new and improved contract.

Both the Georgian’s agent and father are reportedly looking for the attacker to make the move to a Champions League club after Napoli endured a dismal season. As was reported earlier, there is a hope from the attacker’s representatives that he leaves Antonio Conte’s side this summer.

However, the 2023 Serie A champions have issued a strong response after the claims: “After Kvaratskhelia’s camp statement, we want to remind that he’s under contract until June 2027,” the statement began.

“Kvaratskelia is NOT for sale. Player’s agents do NOT decide where they are going, but it’s Napoli deciding when they are under contract.”

Where do you stand with this, who would win the club or player?

Kvaratskhelia is one hell of a player and a man that Manchester United fans would love to see arrive at the club, but a striker is more important right now.

It is a shame that he is not leaving Napoli as he could have been a top class signing for the Red Devils that is for sure,

CHIESA UP FOR GRABS?

Juventus winger and long-term Manchester United target Federico Chiesa is no longer believed to be part of the Italian club’s plans.

Chiesa is a transfer target for Arsenal, Liverpool and Man United – As the winger is “very ambitious” about a move to the Prem and believes top-flight English football will enrich his career.

United have suffered immensely in the flanks this term with Antony underwhelming and Jadon Sancho sent out on loan. Meanwhile, the North Londoners have heavily depended on Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli in their wings.

The Euro 2020 is now seemingly on the market ahead of Thiago Motta taking over as Juventus boss, as Sky Sport Italia state he could be “sacrificed” and is “on the market” for interested clubs.

Roma and Napoli are interested in signing the 26-year-old, but it is believed that Chiesa would be open to the idea of making a move to the Premier League this summer window.

IcFootballnews Opinion –

Chiesa is proven at the highest level of the game, has the ability to play in a number of positions, is a man that is made for the big games, and if he wants to come to the Premier League, United could be the ideal move to make.

The only problem with his potential arrival is that he is a starter, he will want to play every week, play every minute of every match and will not want to be backup.

Add that to his massive asking price – it is a deal that Man United may not look to pursue unless they can get the Italian for an absolute bargain.

But the fact that Manchester United do not have Champions League football – that could scupper any potential deal as the Italian is keen to keep on playing at the highest level.
