Mourinho expects De Gea stay, stunning Ramsey claim, Lauren wants Martial in Man United Friday
Here is a roundup of todays latest Manchester United news, gossip and transfer news from IcFootballnews.
a href=”https://icfootballnews.com/category/arsenal/” rel=”noopener” target=”_blank”>Arsenal legend Lauren says his former club should look to sign Anthony Martial from Premier League rivals Manchester United in the coming transfer windows.
Martial has had another frustrating season at Old Trafford under the guidance of Jose Mourinho, and has once again found himself in and out of the squad as the special ones hands Alexis Sanchez and Marcus Rashford some much needed game time.
But despite his inconsistent performances, the 22-year-old has scored seven goals in 16 games this season, and is starting to show the kind of form which prompted United to splash over £50 million to acquire his services as a teenager.
However, he is still tipped to leave United at the end of the season as he simply cannot get on with Mourinho, and is reportedly stalling on a new contract to see which clubs come calling at the end of the season.
And Lauren believes Gunners boss Unai Emery should move for Martial if he does not extend his deal.
‘If Martial doesn’t renew his contract at Man Utd, Arsenal would be crazy not to try and snap him up,’ the former Cameroon defender told Sporting Bet.
‘He’s a fantastic player and is starting to show what he can really do when given a good run of games.
‘Martial won’t go anywhere without being guaranteed first team football, which I think he would get at Arsenal.’
Although United’s preference would be to keep hold of Martial for the next few years, it is also believed they would be willing to do business if Arsenal, or any other chasing club, managed to meet the £80 million price United are asking for. (READ MORE)
Jose Mourinho is confident Manchester United will be able to agree a new contract with number one David De Gea.
Despite the fact that De Gea has been the best player at Old Trafford for the last few seasons, he has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons over the last few months with some speculation lining him with a move to the likes of PSG and Juventus, as he was out of contract at the end of the season.
It has been a shock to many fans to see De Gea linked with a move away, and many were happy to see that United activated a clause in the Spaniards clause to keep him at Old Trafford for one more season so they could try and secure his services for the next five-years.
And Mourinho, who is also desperate to keep De Gea at the club, has announced that he is confident that the goalkeeper will sign a new contract and stay at Old Trafford, telling Sky Sports News: “He wants to stay, and of course I want him to stay. He is the level of player Manchester United needs. Manchester United needs the best players in the world.
“If we want to be Manchester United, we need the best players in the world.
“We have the best goalkeeper in the world. Obviously, the manager wants him to stay and the board wants him to stay. David wants to stay and his agent [Jorge Mendes, who also represents Mourinho] wants him to do what the player wants – he is not the kind of agent that is manipulative, like others and tries to influence the player.” (READ MORE)
Ramsey will depart the Emirates for free at the end of the season after the club told him in person why he will not be offered a new contract, despite the fact the player and manager both came out and admitted that they were hoping a deal could be struck.
However, the Wales midfielder is understood to have accepted this will be his last season at the club, having made 341 appearances and scored 59 goals since he joined from Cardiff City for just under £5m in 2008, and that has led to a lot of speculation about where he will end up in the coming transfer windows.
United and Liverpool have both been heavily linked with a move for Ramsey, as both Jose Mourinho and Jurgen Klopp are long-term admirers and would love to sign up the Welshman for absolutely nothing at the end of the season, despite the fact he is worth around £40-£50 million.
But despite interest from the Premier League giants, Lauren thinks the 27-year-old should stay in the English capital and sign for West Ham, telling Sky Sports News: “He wants to play. The club are looking at other ways but as a player you have to find your own way.
“If you don’t have the first-team shirt you have to go elsewhere. If I was him I would stay in London because he knows the city.
“Somewhere like West Ham would fit him. It would give him the leadership he needs and he is based in London so I think he has to stay at a London club.” (READ NORE)
