Sorry Spurs as Manchester United keen to wrap up Eriksen January deal
Fresh reports have again claimed that Manchester United will make a January move for Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen.
Eriksen has become a vital part of Mauricio Pochettino’s side over the past few seasons and is one of the creative reasons why they score so many goals throughout the course of the season, but there has been speculation that he could leave the club.
It is believed that the Danish star has refused three contract offers from Spurs over the past few months, with the latest reportedly close to the £110,000-a-week mark, with the likes of Real Madrid, Chelsea, United, Liverpool and Barcelona all keeping a close eye.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a firm favourite to the midfielder, and would love to add his creativity to a United side that is lacking in top-class talent.
Tottenham are in a predicament, with Eriksen unwilling to sign a contract extension as he enters the final 12 months of his deal and it would mean he’d be free to talk to other clubs from January.
And there is talk on the Metro website which has claimed that United boss Solskjaer will try and get the backing of the board to try and acquire the services of Eriksen for a bargain fee, as he needs a bit more creativity in his midfield.
Spurs don’t want to see the man leave, especially as they will not have an adequate replacement to fill the void, and goals, that he may leave. But if United offer the right amount of money in January and no other club does, then Spurs seriously need to get something.
Letting a player that is worth close to £70 million leave for nothing at the end of the season would be a big mistake from Spurs and they should make sure that some money is brought In, so they can invest it on a possible replacement.
