Rodgers announces £250,000-a-week superstar Coutinho ‘will show that he is world class’ ahead of Premier League move

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers believes Manchester United and Liverpool target Philippe Coutinho would quickly remind everyone of his quality if he returns to the Premier League this summer.

Coutinho made a name for himself at Liverpool as one of the best creative midfielders in the game and Barcelona were determined to acquire his services as the long-term replacement for Andreas Iniesta, but his move to the Camp Nou has not gone down as well as many had hoped and after the arrival of Antoine Griezmann, and he was ultimately shipped out to Bayern on a two-year loan deal.

But now that Bayern have not decided to keep hold of Coutinho, it opens the door for the likes of Liverpool and United to swoop in and offer him a way back to the Premier League, especially as they could land him on a loan deal.

And now Rodgers has claimed Coutinho would quickly remind everyone of his quality if he returns to the Premier League this summer, if and when he does head back to the English game in the future

He told the Beautiful Game podcast: “Most people probably look at him and think he’s not for the Premier League, but what a talent.

“He intimidates people when he has the ball with his quality.

“It’s sad to see, I hear people talk him down at the moment. This boy is top and if he comes to this league, he’ll show that. He’s world-class.”

There are a few doubts that Coutinho still has the quality to play at the very highest level so signing him could be a risk, but is he still good enough to join a big club like Liverpool or Manchester United?

Both sides would be taking a huge risk on this man, but it will be very interesting to see just where he actually ends up wont it?
