World class West Ham target told he should have completed move –

West Ham target Harry Maguire would have benefited from a loan move away from Manchester United, claims Louis Saha.

The England international starred at the World Cup for the Three Lions, but Luke Shaw has started over him at centre-back in Man United’s first two league games since the mid-season break.

The United captain has endured a difficult season, falling down the pecking order under Erik ten Hag and starting just eight games across all competitions so far.

It was the Hammers that seemingly made the first move to try and get a deal done, according to recent reports on the Daily Mail. who claimed that the West Ham board contacted Man United over a possible loan deal for Maguire.

However – boss Erik Ten Hag did not want to let the Englishman leave the club and decided to keep hold for the remainder of the season – but now Maguire has been told that a move away would have benefited him.

‘It’s a difficult one, especially after he had a good World Cup,’ Saha told The Games Cabin.

‘It’s right that he’s not in the starting line-up because Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez have shown a good understanding with one another. You have to expect this competition at big clubs and Harry just needs to be patient.

‘A loan move may have been a good option for him to show that he’s worth another try because he’s still a key player and he’s Manchester United’s captain.

‘Even if Erik ten Hag isn’t playing him often, I expect that Ten Hag still respects the player and wants to see him improve. It’s still possible for him to contribute.’

Maguire should have left because he will just be sitting on the bench for the rest of the season – but it was the clubs decision and he is still there.

But we would not be shocked to see him leave in the summer.
