Man United make £50M bid – United wants shock Prem star – Man United edge closer to £42M signing

Here is a roundup of the top Manchester United news and gossip that we think you guys could have missed today –

Manchester United have reportedly received a major boost in their bid to sign Leny Yoro from French giants Lille.

Yoro made 32 appearances in the French top flight last season, scoring twice and keeping 15 clean sheets as Lille finished fourth, and established himself as one of the most promising young centre-backs in European football

Manchester United have lost the experienced Rafa Varane this summer after he decided that he would not be agreeing a new contract at Old Trafford – meaning Erik Ten Hag will need to sign an immediate replacement.

According to Sky Sports, a £42million bid has been agreed in principle with Lille for the teenager to join the Red Devils, as the French giants are ready to cash in on Yoro, 18, ahead of his contract expiring next year.

Reports in Spain insist that the player would prefer to sign for Real Madrid and they are happy to either negotiate a fee with Lille now or wait until 2025 and bring him over as a free agent, which is why Man United have not been able to seal a deal for the defender.

Yoro is a brilliant talent – but if Madrid really wants the lad and the defender wants to make the move to  La Liga – then Manchester United should stay away from a possible deal as the lads heart will not be in Manchester.

The Red Devils may want the lad but it seems he wants Madrid – and we would be very surprised to see him make the move to Manchester as his heart will just not be in the move 100 per cent.

CHILWELL WANTED –

There has been some shock claims that Manchester United are lining up a shock move for Chelsea star Ben Chilwell.

After a very disappointing season last year – Man United have been in the transfer headlines alot over the past few months as there are a number of players linked with a move to Old Trafford.

It is no secret that Erik Ten Hag really struggled to get his side going in the Premier League last season – and that defence became a real source of worry for the Dutchman – as the club simply allowed too many goals to go in.

Manchester United are now looking to to recruit a new left-back and according to MailOnline, the club have Chilwell on their shortlist of options.

The 27-year-old, who Chelsea signed in a £50m deal from Leicester City in 2020, missed out on a place in England’s Euro 2024 squad after starting just nine Premier League games for the Blues last season.

Chelsea have had no desire to sell the England star – but would be open to a potential deal should they get close to that £50 million they paid Leicester City just a few seasons ago.

Chilwell would also add cover for the injury-prone Luke Shaw – who returned from a five-month absence as a substitute in England’s penalty shootout win against Switzerland on Saturday.

‘The last four months have been really tough,’ Shaw said on Monday.

‘I think obviously, at the start I was expected to come back a lot sooner but, you know, I went through quite a few setbacks, to be honest. But I’m here now and it was really nice to get on the other night.

‘I’ve been itching to get some minutes. It’s been a long while but really pleased that I was able to get on the pitch and get some minutes, and of course, now hopefully get some more in the next game.’

BRANTHWAITE OFFER MADE –

It has been claimed that Manchester United have made a fresh offer to sign Everton defender Jarrod Branthwaite this summer.

United have been in the transfer headlines alot over the past few months as there has been alot of players linked with a move to Old Trafford as the Red Devils look to improve a number of key areas.

That defence was a real issue for Man United last season and with Rafa Varane no longer part of the plans – the talented Branthwaite has constantly been linked with a move to Manchester – with reports that United have even made offers to get a deal done.

He is one of the most talented young defenders in the Premier League and it is believed that the only thing stopping United from getting a transfer deal done – is that £70 million asking price that Everton have placed on the shoulders of the young lad.

But the Daily Mail is reporting that the new bid totals £45m plus a further £5m in add-ons, which is far less than the £70 million that Everton reportedly desire for the defender.

Branthwaite is a very good defender that has alot of potential to make it at the very top of the game – but he is not worth £70 million yet and it would be a massive risk for Manchester United to take to pay that kind of money.

He would probably be worth the money if it was closer to £50 million – anymore than that and he could be a real flop at Old Trafford.
