Barca President Bartomeu makes £98.8 million Martinez announcement, opening door for Manchester United to complete transfer deal
Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu says the club will not be splashing out on Lautaro Martinez, and that means Manchester United should make a move.
Now we all know that Manchester United have a top-class and exciting attack, but they need to spend some serious money and add a new forward to the front-line to add a few more goals to the attack
And they need to come to the realisation they may have to spend some serious money in order to get the players that will help close the gap on Manchester City and Liverpool, players like Martinez.
Barcelona have confirmed talks have taken place over a move for Martinez – who is also on Manchester City’s watch-list as a potential long-term replacement for Sergio Aguero – but those talks have now ended.
Martinez, who has scored 18 goals in 39 games for Inter this season, has a £98.5m release clause in his contract and is refusing to extend his current deal at the San Siro, meaning that that big offer will get a transfer deal done.
In an interview with Sport, Bartomeu said: “Barça have spoken with Inter about Lautaro, but the talks have stopped. The situation doesn’t invite large investments.”
Look, The man is equipped to make it in the Premier League, is a proven goal-scorer and is just the type of signing that would help take the club forward in terms of goals.
If United are seeking a striker and Man City or Barcelona dont want to pay the big money, the United board should step up and try to get a deal done, as Martinez is a world class striker that is ready to be a big player in the game.
