Jose Mourinho opens up and has worrying message for Manchester United fans

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has claimed “everyone improved except us”.

After winning the Europa League, Community shield and Carabao Cup in his first, reaching the FA Cup final and finishing second in his second year, Mourinho has struggled to get going this season and has seen his side fall out of the race for the Premier League title already.

He made one big signing during the summer transfer window and failed to improve the back-line, which has been a real problem this season, constantly shipping in goals from every angle.

And with his side falling behind the likes of Tottenham, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal in the chase for a top four spot, Mourinho has admitted he couldn’t have imagined falling so far behind his main rivals.

He told Sky Sports: “The distance [between United and top four] is something I couldn’t predict.

“You always think in a positive way, you always think the distance is not going to be so big.

“But I said clearly, last season we didn’t get the credit we deserved. To finish second, to play the FA Cup final and to qualify as winners in our Champions League group – we didn’t get the credit we deserved at all.

“All the teams they got better, Spurs was the team that did not make a direct investment, but the best investment is to keep the top players that you have. So every team got better and we didn’t.”

Can United turn this very disappointing season around?

Mourinho is one of the greatest managers to ever grace the game and if anybody can United back into Champions it will be him.

But he doe snot have the players and squad to keep up with the rest of his title contenders and it is easy to see just why he is so disappointed with this season, as he believed he would get the backing to seriously challenge Manchester City.

However, the January transfer window is just around the corner and one or two good signings could reignite the Red Devils season.
