£10million-a-year offer? Man United make Tottenham boss Pochettino top Mourinho replacement
Fresh reports have again claimed Manchester United are eyeing up Tottenham boss Maurizio Pochettino as a possible replacement for Jose Mourinho.
Despite announcing on number of occasion that he is happy at Old Trafford and plans to spend a very long time in charge of the Red Devils, it is clear to see that Mourinho is not a happy man after not getting the backing during the transfer window.
The special one wanted to sign a new world class defender and a world class midfielder with the likes of Toby Alderweireld, Raphael Varane, Isco and Ivan Rakitic all on his shopping list. But the only big name to arrive during the transfer window was that of Fred, who isn’t exactly the superstar name he wanted.
And that has led to speculation that he could leave the club at the end of the season, with Pochettino lined up as the potential new boss after turning Tottenham into one of the best attacking sides in Europe.
Now the TMW website has claimed Pochettino is United’s top contender for the job at Old Trafford as the Red Devils are prepared to offer the Argentine a whopping £10-million a year deal to tempt him away from Spurs.
However, they have a fight on their hands to land El Poche, as he is currently tied down to a contract which keeps him at Spurs until 2023.
Here is what we think on United’s chase for Pochettino.
Let’s say Mauricio Pochettino comes in next, he likes hungry 23, 24-year-olds, he likes pushing up the pitch and playing high, he likes players who can press from the front.
How many Manchester United forwards do you see that run about like the Tottenham ones. Mourinho is happy to sit back a bit deeper and have a more robust, physical player.
This season has been painful to watch for many United fans and if they did tempt Pochettino away from Spurs, it would be one of the best deals in recent memory.
