Man United prepared to pay £55 million and sign Premier League defender
Manchester United are prepared to offer £55m for Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite during the summer transfer window.
Manchester United are in the headlines alot over the last few months as there are alot of speculation and rumours about players that could leave the club, and players that could come in and get the side challenging once again.
Rafa Varane has just announced that he will be leaving the club at the end of the season – meaning that Man United will need to delve into that transfer kitty to add a new defender and Branthwaite is a man that the club wants.
According to reports on the Sun – Man United are ready to pay £55 million for the defender – but will face a battle as Everton are looking to raise funds with alternative departures to ensure that they do not have to part ways with their No. 32, though they are said to be willing to entertain offers in the region of £80million
Everton director of football Kevin Thelwell recently confirmed the club will sell players this summer With Man United keen on Jarrad Branthwaite
“It is also important that I am completely candid with you,” Thelwell said in a statement.
“The reality is, given the regulations in place and the Club’s current financial position, we have to trade well. Working within such tight financial parameters makes the job extremely difficult. Whilst we want to ensure the team is as competitive as possible, we cannot lose sight of our central objective to protect the long-term stability of the Club.
“That does mean players will be sold, and also that every tool at our disposal will be used to secure new additions to the squad, including utilisation of the loan market. Both Sean and I understand the responsibility we have – and that is a responsibility which has to be our priority.
‘That may not be exciting to hear but, under our current circumstances, it is the right thing for Everton.”

Branthwaite is certainly a talent and one for the future – but £80 million for a defender that has done nothing in the game but put in some good performances is made – but that is the type of player that Manchester United like to sign.
