Manchester United open talks to sign world class £108 million rated world Cup winner Griezmann
Manchester United have looked to hijack Barcelona’s move for Antoine Griezmann, by opening talks with the Frenchman.
The brilliantly gifted attacker has been linked with both United and Barcelona over the last few seasons, with both clubs looking to add another ‘special’ player to their already impressive squads.
But despite all the speculation and transfer talk, Griezmann has so far not left the current Europa League Champions and has never given any real indication that he sees his future elsewhere, as he is playing top-level football on a regular basis and winning silverware with Madrid.
But is seems he has made up his mind where he will be playing next season, after announcing on his Twitter account that he will indeed be leaving the Spanish giants at the end of the current season.
He was Atletico’s inspirational figure when they won the 2018 Europa League, scoring twice in a 3-0 win over Olympique Marseilles in the final, before helping them win the UEFA Super Cup. Griezmann also lifted the Spanish Super Cup in 2014.
Griezmann, 28, said he had told Atletico coach Diego Simeone and chief executive Miguel Angel Gil Marin of his decision and addressed the supporters in the video message.
And now Solskjaer’s side have reportedly re-established communications with the Madrid side over their wantaway 28-year-old, according to the Independent, as Barcelona are doubting whether or not to actually sign the attacker.
If United are serious about getting back to the very top of the game and challenging for the premier League and Champions League titles once again, they will need to beat off Barcelona and try to get this deal done as Griezmann is just the kind of superstar player they need to turn things around.
Griezmann is just the type of game changing attacker that Solskjaer needs in this summers transfer window to get the club back inside the top four, playing Champions League football and then pushing on to challenge for the Premier League title.
So many fans will be hoping they can convince Griezmann to leave La Liga for the Premier League.
