Stunning transfer news for Manchester United as absolute superstar of the game ‘wants fresh challenge’

Long-term Manchester United target Robert Lewandowski wants a new challenge away from Bayern Munich but the club has valued him at more than £100m.

Lewandowski is one of Europe’s elite goalscorers and has unsurprisingly attracted interest from some of the continent’s biggest clubs over the past few seasons as he continues scoring goals for fun

The 32-year-old striker netted 41 league goals in the 2020/21 season for Bayern to break Gerd Muller’s Bundesliga record, which had stood for 49 years, but there has been alot of speculation regarding the players future

Lewandowski’s Allianz Arena contract runs until 2023. And club chiefs are hopeful he will stay and finish his career at the club, despite seeing head coach Hansi Flick leave.

Sky Sports News has been told Lewandowski, who turns 33 on Saturday, is happy at Bayern but wants to secure a move to another top European club before the age of 35.

The German champions valuation, designed to keep him until the end of his contract in 2023, is likely to price the FIFA & UEFA player of the year out of a departure

The reports adds, The Poland striker is understood to be frustrated by their reluctance to sell, but is unlikely to do anything that will harm his good relationship with the club.

He has already scored three in Bayern’s two opening games including in Super Cup victory against Borussia Dortmund.

Lewandowski may be coming towards the back-end of his playing days, but he still a goal-scoring machine that will cost upwards of £100 million, so if United want to sign a striker that can bang in the goals for the next two years, Lewandowski is their man

So even though Bayern do not want to sell the player right now, the right offer from the Red Devils could get a transfer deal done
