Agent tells Man United £300,000-a-week German Ozil wants to be at Arsenal
Manchester United target Mesut Ozil wants to stay at Arsenal beyond the end of his current contract, his agent has announced.
Ozil has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons this season as there is even more talk that he could be sold by boss Unai Emery, as he does not fit the playing style of the former PSG and Sevilla manager.
Add that to the fact he is on a wage he does not deserve, in many peoples eyes, and his clear lack of consistency, means that links to United, Juventus and PSG have emerged over the last few weeks.
However, his agent Dr Erkut Sogut has said that the German is not looking to leave the club and would like to stay at the Emirates beyond his current deal.
“I would prefer not to speak publicly about Mesut’s situation, but given the recent speculation linking him with a move away from Arsenal, I do feel it is important to provide some clarity so we can end this and focus on football,” he told Goal.
“Mesut signed a new contract last January because he saw his future at Arsenal and nothing has changed in his mind. He wants to stay for the duration of that contract and maybe even longer.
“Mesut is 100 per cent committed to Arsenal Football Club. He loves the club, shares its values and does not want to be anywhere else.”
Will Arsenal hand Ozil another contract?
Ozil is a world class playmaker that on, on his day, can tear apart any team in Europe. But he simply doesn’t show up for the important fixtures and when he is needed most, he is not there.
Emery has a new style that he wants to implement at Arsenal, and right now, Ozil does not fit that style. So unless he ups his performances for the time he is at Arsenal, he will not be able to hold the club ransom again and get the kind of wages he currently does.
