Lee Dixon believes former Manchester United talent Angel Gomes would be a ‘superb’ signing for Arsenal and admits he ‘can see’ the new England star signing for the Gunners in the next couple of transfer windows.

The 24-year-old spent almost a decade at Manchester United academy but only made ten appearances for the first-team before being sold in 2020 after he decided that he needed to leave the club in order to further his career

Lille immediately sent Gomes out on loan but the midfielder has racked up more than 100 appearances for the French side over the past three seasons and has now fully established himself as one of the most exciting young players in the French League.

Gomes’ form has left Manchester United fans wondering why they let him go and now Dixon has tipped him for a return to the Premier League, but has claimed that it could be Arsenal that he eventually ends up at.

‘I think Angel Gomes would fit in at Arsenal superbly,’ Dixon told plejmo.com. ‘His qualities are clear to see, he’s a very good link-up player and we’ve seen that he can play alongside Declan Rice.

‘He’s got a lot of potential and although there will be plenty of clubs looking at him, I could see him at Arsenal next season.’

Many believe that Manchester United made a mistake by letting Gomes leave the club – he was a very exciting talent. But the decision to leave the Premier League giants was the right one to make.

He is playing beautiful football and developing very nicely and that is why all the big clubs are taking an interest. So if he carries on performing well and impressing, then yes he could end up signing for Arsenal.

But he may not need too as he is getting everything he needs right now.

MAN UNITED WANTS DE JONG – 

Manchester United will make a renewed attempt to prise Frenkie de Jong away from Barcelona this coming January transfer window, as Erik Ten Hag continues to splash that Red Devils cash

Manchester United have had a busier few transfer windows than many people expected, with a number of stars departing the club over the last few windows, and a number of players making their ways to Stamford Bridge.

There was also speculation in the media that a number of world class Barcelona stars were also players that United were interested in signing, but were unable to get any deals done as they wanted to stay at the Camp Nou.

However – The Catalan club continue to find themselves in a financial mess as they are still operating above the La Liga-imposed annual spending limit.

The Red Devils have a long-standing interest in the Dutch midfielder having tried and failed to sign him two years ago.

A bid of just over £51m would reportedly be considered by Barcelona after they spent big on signing Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig.

Reports in Spain state that Barcelona are desperate to sell Frenkie de Jong and have thus offered him to multiple clubs including Manchester United and Chelsea as they seek to get £40 million for the midfielder.

Manchester United have been signing some players over the last few windows and adding players to the side that have been making a real difference to the side. If there is a chance to sign De Jong – they should take it.

He is a world class player that could be the ideal signing for the club – as he still has many years left in the game and has still not hit his prime.

If the reports are true and Man United can get him for £40 million – he could be a great signing for the Red Devils that is for sure

SESKO UP FOR GRABS IN JANUARY?

It has again been claimed that Manchester United can sign RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko in the January window to really push on and get back into the hunt for that Champions League place.

So many names were linked with a move to  Old Trafford in the summer window, including the impressive Sesko, but in the end, Erik Ten Hag made the decision to bring in Joshua Zirkzee.

But that Man United attack has not started the new season the way that Ten Hag would like – meaning that Man United may have to delve into that transfer kitty once again in a bid to sign a striker like Sesko.

The Slovenian international signed a new contract with RB Leipzig in the summer and has already begun the season very well. Six goals and three assists in the first nine games including three in the first two Champions League matches against Juventus and Atletico Madrid is an excellent start.

However – despite that new contract being signed by the big striker – there has been some reports in the media which have now claimed that he could be available to sign in the winter window if the right offer arrives.

RB know that they will not be able to hold on to their star man if he continues to score the goals he has been, meaning that they are prepared to cash in should they get an offer that is simply too good to turn down.

Sesko is brilliant and showing Manchester United why they should have signed him in the summer. Every Man United fan knows that the club needs to sign a top striker as what they have right now is simply not good enough to compete.
