Fabio Coentrao, a Champions League winner with Real Madrid, hailed come out and claimed that Manchester United have hired “the best manager in the world” after deciding to bring Ruben Amorim to the club.

Erik Ten Hag was heavily backed in the summer and signed alot of players, but the start to the new season meant that he was given the boot and the Red Devils quickly decided to bring Amorim to Old Trafford.

Amorim has made a real name for hmself at Sporting Lisbon and many believed that he was the man that would replace Pep Guardiola at Man City, but he is obviously at the Red Devils and the former left-back has claimed that Amorim is the best in the world –  said: “Sporting have lost a very important figure, but I am thrilled for Ruben. Manchester United have gained the best coach in the world… by far.”

In response to Amorim’s departure, Sporting moved quickly to find a new leader for their senior squad. They announced Joao Pereira, a former Portugal international, as his successor.

But Coentrao refrained from making a comparison between the two and said: “Ruben is Ruben, Joao is Joao. Ruben has already proven himself and now he will make us proud in another country. Ruben cared about Sporting until the last second and left the team very well prepared.

The team is ready and whoever goes there has to be intelligent and finish the work that Ruben did. With this team, without a doubt, Sporting has to be champion.”

ZIRKZEE TO LEAVE?

Manchester United summer signing Joshua Zirkzee is allegedly ready to return to Italy during the January transfer window, it has been claimed in the media.

Manchester United have spent more than £600 million ($785m) on players since Ten Hag became manager in the summer of 2022 – and yet they seem to be going backwards after having another poor start to the new season.

Zirkzee is a player that Man United have big hopes for after splashing some serious money on the lad just over the summer – but he has struggled to make that big impact and has not been able to score the amount of goals that Man United boss Erik ten Hag really needs.

And Just over three months after joining the 20-time English champions, Zirkzee is already being linked to a possible exit due to his inability to reach his best form. Per Tuttosport Zirkzee could head back to Italy after just six months at Old Trafford.

Manchester United icon Paul Scholes recently sent a brutal message about striker Joshua Zirkzee as the Red Devils legend hit out at the transfer policy at Old Trafford.

He told SuperSport: ‘Zirkzee… what is he? Is he a No.9 or a No.10? Is he going to get you 20 goals? I don’t think so. I think they’re relying more on hope than actual proven quality and they spent so much money as well. It’s a ridiculous amount of money and some of them can’t get in the team!

‘You think of Ugarte coming into the club who was supposed to change the way the midfield was… he didn’t play him. De Ligt, £50m and he didn’t play him. Jonny Evans has come in at 36 years old instead of him. Martinez, Ten Hag brought him into the club.

The Swede, who scored 29 goals in his maiden season, has already notched up 23 so far this campaign and there has been alot of speculation in the media that he is one player that clubs may look to sign in the January transfer window.

Gyokeres now heading for exit after Amorim departure?

Gyokeres is one of a number of Sporting CP players who could leave the Portuguese club in the wake of Ruben Amorim’s departure, with Arsenal, Chelsea and United likely to chase the former Coventry striker once again.

But Ex-United striker Louis Saha is, however, not convinced that Gyokeres is the right option. He believes Premier League pedigree should be sought when luring England captain Kane back to his homeland from German giants Bayern Munich.

Speaking to BoyleSports, who offer the latest Premier League odds, Saha has said: “It might be surprising, but I don’t think Manchester United should go after Viktor Gyokeres. I think he is a good player in an incredible run of form, even in the Champions League, but he won’t get the same luxuries as he does at Sporting.

‘Sporting are not under the same pressure as Manchester United, it’s a completely different animal. Right now United have Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee and at times the pressure has looked to be a lot for them to handle too.

“It’s hard to find players who can do what Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland can do, United need to find players that can really hurt the opposition and are proven in doing so and that’s a big task.

‘United have spent a lot of money and I don’t think Gyokeres is the answer, if you can spend £120 million on Harry Kane then they should do it tomorrow, there are very few guarantees in football but that’s what a club like United needs.”
