Man United Wednesday! Carvajal’ Premier league dream, Icardi to leave Inter, Pogba claim made
Here is a roundup from all today’s Manchester United headlines.
Real Madrid star Dani Carvajal has told the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United ‘that he dreams of playing in the Premier League’
Regarded as one of the finest right-backs in world football, Carvajal has been linked with a move to the Premier League for a number of transfer windows, as United see him as the long-term replacement for Antonio Valencia while Arsenal will need a replacement if Hector Bellerin joins Barcelona.
Madrid signed Alvaro Odriozola for £40m last summer and Carvajal fears for his future at the Bernabeu, despite being a regular starter under former boss Zinedine Zidane and And he has suggested he could leave the club by admitting he would like to play in England.
He was quoted on the Metro website:‘I would love to play in the Premier League.
‘It’s an experience that I would love to have and I don’t want to be left cursing not having experienced it.’
Now Carvajal has a contract at Madrid until 2022, but with a number of changes expected to arise next summer, reports have claimed Madrid could accept anything between £40-60 million for the Spanish international.
Meanwhile, France coach Didier Deschamps says the tension between Manchester United star Paul Pogba and boss Jose Mourinho has been “exaggerated”.
Despite managing to keep hold of the Frenchman during the summer transfer window, Pogba and Mourinho have once again been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons this season, with the special one not happy with the midfielders performances.
The pair even had a frosty exchange on the training pitch last month, with the United manager also involved in a vice-captaincy debate surrounding the midfielder.
But Deschamps has claimed that the situation between the two egotistical men has been exaggerated, telling Sky Sports: “I think that it is exaggerated. Maybe you didn’t watch the last game because I saw a great Paul Pogba.
“I think that Jose Mourinho saw the same thing as me. Some things happened, and I think that like often, we make a big deal of maybe not so much.
“When I see how Paul behaves towards his current club situation some may say that he’s done everything he could mentally and when it comes to his individual performances to help the club.”
And finally, Manchester United target and Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi is not happy at the Italian giants, as they will not give him the contract he desires.
Icardi was linked with a summer move to United after reports emerged he could leave Inter after reports emerged which suggested the Italians were not ready to open up contract talks.
It was no secret that Jose Mourinho was desperate to improve a number of key areas in the summer, and believed he needed a new striker to help out Romelu Lukaku, who is the special ones preferred hitman.
But as speculation grew on whether or not he could leave, Milan started negotiations over a new contract and it seemed Icardi was all set to stay put.
However, Italian website Calciomercato has claimed Icardi is now demanding €8m (£7.2m) plus bonuses to renew but Inter are only prepared to offer €6.5m (£5.70m) plus bonuses.
Milan are keen to get the deal done, but are not prepared to budge too much on the high wages Icardi is asking, meaning the likes of United are now ready to swoop in and offer him the kind of contract he desires.
