Manchester United ready to pay £30 million and bring Premier League star to Old Trafford
Manchester United have emerged as potential suitors for Brighton right-back Tariq Lamptey.
The transfer window has been open for a few weeks now and despite all the rumours linking United with a number of players, it is believed that they will not be doing much business over the next few weeks.
But it has been claimed in the media over the past few days that Interim boss Ralf Rangnick is thought to want an upgrade on Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot, and Lamptey has emerged as a potential target for United.
The 21 year-old, who made his senior debut for Chelsea in the Premier League back in December 2019, was one of the most highly-rated players at the Bridge, but Chelsea decided to cash-in knowing they already had Reece James in their ranks.
It has been no surprise to see that Lamptey has gone on to develop into one of the best right-backs in the Premier League, despite the fact that he has been plagued by injuries over the last 12 months, and he has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal.
Now The Daily Mail reports United are willing to pay £30m for the 21-year-old, although Brighton value the defender at £40m.
There is no doubt that Lamptey is destined for one of the big clubs in England, he has some serious potential guys, so it will be interesting to see if United do make a move as the lad does have the quality to play for a club like the Red Devils.
His future is bright and the Chelsea board must be feeling they made a mistake letting the lad leave, but do United really need to spend £30 million on the player when they already have two decent right-backs at the club?
There are other areas of the pitch that need to be improved on first right?
