Manolas on way, £225m Eriksen, Skriniar offer in Man United Wednesday news and gossip

Here is the daily roundup of Manchester United news, gossip and transfer speculation.

Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has slapped a world-record £225m price tag on Manchester United target Christian Eriksen.

Eriksen has had another outstanding season at Spurs and has become one of the best creative midfielders in the Premier League right now, but there has been some speculation that he could leave the club in the coming windows after failing to agree a contract with Spurs.

It is believed that Spurs and Eriksen cannot agree on the wages, as the Denmark International would like to sign a deal that takes him to the upper end of the Spurs wage budget, While Spurs do not want to break the back to offer him a new deal.

That has led to speculation that United, Real Madrid and Chelsea are all interested in trying to prise Eriksen away, as all have been long-time admirers of the Spurs man.

But according to reports on Spanish publication AS, Levy has stuck a record £225 million price tag on the head of Eriksen in hope of warding off any interest in one of the clubs best players, despite the fact that he only has 18 months remaining on his current Spurs contract.

Fresh reports have claimed Roma defender Kostas Manolas could be all set to sign for Manchester United this January.

United have constantly been in the headlines this season for their poor defensive showings, which cost Jose Mourinho his job at Old Trafford, and there is widespread speculation that United would devle into their transfer kitty and land a defender or two in the January window.

And according to reports emergeing for Italian publication Gazzetta Dello Sport, United chiefs are ready to prise the Greek away from Roma by activating his £32million release clause with the Italian side are already looking to replace their centre-back.

Manolas has been impressive in the heart of Roma’s defence since his move to the Italian capital in 2014, but would like the opportunity to play for one of the biggest clubs in football, recently stating “it’s only natural you want to play for the biggest clubs.”

United have also been linked with a big money move for Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly over the past few months, but the Italians have stuck a massive £108 million price tag on the defenders head, which has reportedly put United off any deal this month.

Fresh reports have claimed Manchester United have made a £54m (€60m) bid for Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar.

United are reportedly in the transfer market for a new defender after starting the new season with some poor performances at the back, which all culminated in the sacking of Jose Mourinho, who constantly stated that the back-line was not up to the standard that he needed.

That has led to speculation that United are lining up a mega money move for Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly, who is now regarded as one of the finest defenders in Europe. But with Napoli playing hard-ball over any possible deal and sticking a reported £108 million price tag on the head of the defender, United have reportedly been put off.

Now reports on the TuttoMercato website have claimed United are desperate to sign Skriniar, 23 this month and have already made a massive £54m (€60m) offer for Inter Milan centre-back.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may not be the permanent manager just yet, but he would love to add a world class scentr-back to the back-line and there are not too many defenders out there right now that have the ability to Skriniar.

However, United are not the only club interested in a deal as Chelsea, Real Madrid and Juventus have also been linked with a mega money swoop.
