Chelsea announcement ‘matter of days’ from being announced – Blues directors in Marbella for talks

Chelsea have been given permission by Leicester to speak to their head coach Enzo Maresca over succeeding Mauricio Pochettino.

Chelsea co-sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart will fly to Marbella for face-to-face talks with Maresca about making the move to Stamford Bridge in the coming days.

The Italian is regarded as one of the best up and coming managers in the game and is the type of boss that the Chelsea board are very much keen to bring into the club with his brand of football.

Now – amid all the speculation and rumours – Sky Sports pundit Kaveh Solhekol has claimed that a deal for the Italian could be announced in the next couple of days, he said: “All roads lead to Enzo Maresca becoming Chelsea’s new head coach and it could be announced in a matter of days.

“Chelsea have always made it clear that they wanted an announcement before the end of this month so that’s now before the end of this week.

“I know that Behdad Eghbali, who is the person pulling the strings behind this has been in London for more than a week now.

“He’s due to leave shortly but he’s been here to make sure that this is done and that it is done properly.

“CHELSEA have had a very thorough process with Kieran McKenna, Thomas Frank and Roberto De Zerbi all considered but they feel Maresca is the one for them.

“The others were all very impressive candidates, but Chelsea feel at this moment in time that Maresca is the man for them, and he shares their vision for the future.”

this is a very big jump for the boss to make and many fans will be hoping that he is able to handle the pressures of the Premier League, the big players and one of the biggest clubs in the game.
