Enzo Maresca told £50M star SHOULD be a Chelsea player this summer amidst speculation!
Chelsea have been told that they should keep Manchester United linked Ben Chilwell at the club this summer window.
After a very disappointing season last year – Man United have been in the transfer headlines alot over the past few months as there are a number of players linked with a move to Old Trafford.
It is no secret that Erik Ten Hag really struggled to get his side going in the Premier League last season – and that defence became a real source of worry for the Dutchman – as the club simply allowed too many goals to go in.
Manchester United are now looking to to recruit a new left-back and according to recent reports on MailOnline, the club have Chilwell on their shortlist of options.
The 27-year-old, who CHELSEA signed in a £50m deal from Leicester City in 2020, missed out on a place in England’s Euro 2024 squad after starting just nine Premier League games for the Blues last season.
Chelsea have had no desire to sell the England star – but would be open to a potential deal should they get close to that £50 million they paid Leicester City just a few seasons ago.
But according to ex-Blues star Johnson – Chelsea should look to keep hold of the defender this summer – Speaking to Betfred, Glen Johnson said: “It’s a difficult one because you’ve got Marc Cucurella, who’s on cloud nine at the moment, and Ben, who’s a fantastic player when he’s fit.
“If I was the manager, I’d be letting them two go toe-to-toe in pre-season and keep whoever’s impressed me most. They’re both good enough to start for Chelsea, so I’d just let them fight it out for now.
“If Ben was always fit, then you’d keep him, but it’s hard to not play Cucurella off the back of the Euros…”
