Barcelona have confirmed that Mariona Caldentey will be joining Arsenal this summer window.

After a stuttering season for the ARSENAL side that is so used to winning trophies – Boss Jonas Eidevall is keen to make sure that he makes a few signings over the summer window.

Eidevall recently stated that he’s looking for a player who can create chances for his team, he said: ‘When the space isn’t there and we need to create it, that is where, at times, we have been lacking. From a pace perspective and having players who can exploit space, we are good.

We need to be more effective on set pieces and to open games up where there is less space, those are qualities we need to bring into the squad,”

And now it seems that he has got his wish as Barcelona have just confirmed that Caldentey will be making the move to the WSL this transfer window.

She managed to score 15 goals and provide 14 assists in 45 games for Barcelona but is keen to test herself outside of the Spanish League and in arguably the toughest league in the womens game.

Caldentey, 28, won the World Cup with Spain in 2023 and is a two-time Women’s Champions League winner with Barca.

Arsenal Ladies are getting a wonderfully gifted player in the form of Caldentey – she really is a class act and a player that will make an immediate impact on the side.

If this is the first signing for Eidevall this summer – fans will be hoping that the same kind of standard of stars also make the move to London – this is a great bit of business by ARSENAL
