Signed sealed and delivered as Tottenham officially announced midfielder has signed summer deal

Tottenham have confirmed they have handed 20-year-old midfielder George Marsh a new deal.

Spurs have come of the best talents in the game in the first team squad and in the youth ranks and there has been a lot of transfer speculation in the media over the past few weeks all suggesting that a number of Championship clubs are interested in securing a deal for the talented Marsh.

The midfielder’s previous deal was set to expire at the end of the month but he will now remain in north London until the end of the 2020/21 season, with Mauricio Pochettino reportedly ready to give him more of a chance to shine in the first team next season.

A Spurs statement read: “We are delighted to announce that George Marsh has signed a new contract with the Club, which will run until 2021.

“The tough-tackling midfielder, 20, made his senior debut during last summer’s pre-season International Champions Cup tournament in the United States where he made appearances against AS Roma and AC Milan.

“George earned his competitive first team bow as a second-half substitute in our 7-0 FA Cup win at Tranmere Rovers in January, 2019.”

Many Spurs fans will remember Marsh as the young midfielder who was grabbed and wrestled by Liverpool and England star Adam Lallana during one Premier League 2 match after one tough tackle.

Spurs fans will be delighted to see that Marsh has signed a new contract at the club as he does have some potential to add something to the first team over the next 12 months, But fans will now be hoping that the serious transfer business can take place.

Spurs will need to invest in key areas of the pitch this summer to push for that premier League title once again and then push on to claim a Champions League title, and fans will be hoping that Pochettino will be backed in this market.

If Spurs are serious about becoming contenders, then they need to spend some serious money on world class players.
