‘One of the greats’ Arsenal fans will love what Manchester United ace has said about world cup winner
Manchester United star Juan Mata has hailed Arsenal ace Mesut Ozil and called the German a ‘great player’
There has been some suggestion in the media that Unai Emery does not like the style of play of the German, and does not want him in his squad any longer, that is why the former Real Madrid ace has made just one appearance in the Premier League this season, which came in the 2-2 draw with Watford.
And that has led to a lot of transfer speculation in the media that he could be leaving the club and heading to either the Turkish League or Chinese League, as there is a lot of interest in the German despite his poor performances under Emery.
But he has come out and admitted that he will not be leaving the club anytime soon and plans to stay at the club until 2021, he told the Sky Sports website: “When I signed the new deal, I thought about it very carefully and said it was one of the most important decisions of my footballing career. I didn’t want to stay for just one or two more years, I wanted to commit my future to Arsenal and the club wanted me to do the same.
“You can go through difficult times, like this, but that is no reason to run away and I’m not going to. I’m here until at least 2021.”
And, though Mata insists the age of No.10s is fading, he says Ozil remains one of the best attacking midfielders in the world, telling the Athletic: ‘To be honest, I don’t know what’s going on. I was with Emery for three years in Valencia and I know him very well but I don’t know the day-to-day thing in Arsenal right now. But, of course, Ozil is a creator, a player with a lot of great quality that I like watching.
‘This type of player, this pure No 10, is … how do you say? Extinct? Maybe not extinct, but not as used as before ‘In the past, there was always this pure No 10, behind the striker or the two strikers, depending on the team. ‘With different systems now, that position has evolved into a different one.
‘But these are players I like, where natural talent brings the best of them and they can change a game with a pass or something that nobody else sees.’
