Maximin brother makes transfer claim, Edouard and Morelos better options than Joelinton, Sounes makes huge Maximin claim

Maximin brother makes transfer claim, Edouard and Morelos message sent, Sounes makes Saint-Maximin claim in Newcastle roundup..

The brother of Allan Saint-Maximin has responded to reports that he has been talking up a possible move to Napoli for the Newcastle winger

Saint-Maximin was recently hailed as ‘the signing of the season’ by United boss Steve Bruce after joining from Nice last summer for just £16.5million, as the 23-year-old has impressed in recent weeks and his performances have helped move his side away from the relegation zone.

It has even been speculated that Napoli are now interested in a potential deal in the summer window, with reports the club will keep a close eye on his performances between now and when the season stops.

Now his brother has come out and responded to reports that he has been talking up a possible move to Napoli for the Newcastle winger

Just in case the tweet doesn’t show – this from NUFC 360.

Kurtys Saint-Maximin, brother and agent of ASM: “I have never talked to Napoli about a transfer of Allan. Even in the past there has been no contact.

“I still don’t know his future, it’s too early but he will want to play as a starting player in the UCL.” [Calcio Napoli]

Odsonne Edouard and Alfredo Morelos would both be better options for Newcastle United than Joelinton.

Joelinton has mainly been used as a lone frontman in his first season at St James’ Park, which is a different role to the one he fulfilled at Hoffenheim, and has scored just one league goal this season.

The 23-year-old usually played in a two-man or three-man strikeforce during his time in Germany and that is why he has been unable to find the form which made the Toon spend so much money to acquire his services.

And with reports that Newcastle may seek to add another striker to the front-line in the summer transfer window, Walker has claimed that Edouard and Morelos would be better options for the Toon than Joelinton

That’s the view of Sky Sports Scottish football expert Andy Walker, who wrote in his column: “I covered Newcastle against West Ham for Sky on Sunday and I have no doubts at all that both Edouard and Morelos would certainly offer a far bigger threat than Newcastle’s Brazilian signing Joelinton, for example.

Remarkably, he cost the Magpies £40m and has managed just two league goals this season.

“Scottish football is a different marketplace of course, but sums of anywhere around the £20m mark for two top-class goalscorers will have both boardrooms on high alert.”

Graeme Souness believes Newcastle’s Allan Saint-Maximin is a ‘top, top player’ who is only going to get better.

“He’s a top, top player. It’s easy to look at him and just talk about his dribbling when he gets one-on-one,” he told Sky Sports before Newcastle’s 2-2 draw with West Ham.

“If you’re a defender, you do not want to find yourself one-on-one with him. But it’s his choice of pass, as well, he’s bright and he’s alive.

“You can only see him getting better and better. He’s 23-years-old, so you’ll always be reminding him that he’s got a long way to go, and I know Patrick Vieira fell out with him over that because he said that having all that ability is just not enough.

“As long as he’s willing to turn up everyday and want to learn, you can tolerate everything else.”

Look, the lad has a bright future in the game, but he cannot let the hype go to his head and then get his head turned by the transfer speculation, right now, Newcastle is the perfect place for him to develop into a top Premier League star.

A move away from the club now may undue all the hard work he has put in over the last few months.
