Liverpool, Mbappe

The mayor of Paris has become the latest figure to try and persuade Kylian Mbappe to stay at PSG, with Liverpool reportedly interested in a deal

The 23-year-old is one of the best players on the planet and he showcased his talent on the biggest stage on Tuesday, when PSG went up against Real Madrid in the first leg of their last-16 showdown in the Champions League.

However, The France forward is expected to leave the Parc des Princes at the end of the season when his contract expires, with Liverpool and Real Madrid both keen to wrap up a deal.

The Spaniards are favourites to win the race for Mbappe, but with funds tight, they may not be able to match his £500,000-a-week wage demands to keep tempt him to the Spanish League, Leaving Liverpool with the chance to complete his services

But amid all the speculation, the mayor of Paris has now come out and urged the striker to stay with PSG, When asked about Mbappe, Hidalgo told TV programme Tele Loisirs: “Oh yes! Let him stay, let him help us!

“Above all, I think that beyond football and results he is so important, so useful to give hope to our young people. [That] is why I want him to stay.

“I don’t have a bribe. But I just wanted to say that we love him so much.

“Just love, affection, and telling him that he is, in our country, in this city, such an example for many young people. He is aware of it.”
