Carragher advises Klopp to sign brilliant German, Mbappe for free?, £65 million man opens door to Liverpool move by shutting down Barcelona
Carragher advices Klopp to sign Werner, Mbappe for free? Carlos opens door to Anfield move in Liverpool roundup…..
Paris Saint-Germain would rather Liverpool target Kylian Mbappe left for nothing when his contract expires rather than sell him to Real Madrid, reports AS.
Liverpool may have been stopped marching to that Premier League title due to the coronavirus outbreak, but there many reasons why Liverpool should be handed the title this season even if the Premier League campaign cannot get back before the end of June.
And one of those reasons is Sadio Mane, as the Senegal international has developed into one of Jurgen Klopp’s most important players at Anfield since signing from Southampton in 2016, with the former Saints star netting an impressive 77 goals in 161 appearances for Liverpool.
Recent reports in the media have suggested that Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has identified Mane as one of his top transfer targets ahead of the summer and is reportedly ready to spend in excess of £100 million to try and secure a transfer deal.
Reports have claimed that Liverpool do not want to lose their star man in the summer and would much rather he stayed, but if he wanted to leave the club, then they would not stop him joining Madrid, but they would demand in excess of £150 million from the Spaniards if they did sell on, meaning that Klopp would need to go and break the transfer record to land Mbappe, who he is a massive fan of and would love to add to that Liverpool side in the summer.
Mbappe is already regarded as one of the best players in the game, and is tipped to become a real legend of football in the coming seasons, he has showed no desire to leave PSG at this point and the French giants are in no rush to sell, meaning Liverpool would have a big battle on their hands to complete a transfer deal.
However, there has also been talk that Madrid will come calling for Mbappe should he come onto the transfer market a Zidane is a massive fan of his fellow Frenchman, but their hopes of signing the forward have been placed on hold due to the coronavirus outbreak.
But reports on the AS website have claimed PSG are determined not to sell the France international and are prepared to allow Mbappe to run down his contract, which expires in 2022, rather than let him leave the club in the summer.
Diego Carlos has handed Liverpool a transfer boost by shooting down a possible move to Barcelona in the summer.
Liverpool may have one of the best defences in the game right now, but there is a feeling that Jurgen Klopp is not completely happy with his back-line and will look to improve that area of the pitch when the summer transfer window opens up, especially as Dejan Lovren looks set to leave.
Lovren may be a big part of the Liverpool side, but there is a feeling in the media that he is not trusted by Klopp and the German coach will look to sell on and bring in an adequate replacement that can do a much better job, someone like Carlos.
Virgil Van Dijk needs a partner to continue taking Liverpool upwards and recent reports on the Metro website have claimed that Klopp is ready to pay £65 million to secure a deal for the defender and make him the idea partner to sit alongside Van Dijk at the back.
Barcelona are also interested in a summer deal, with some reports suggesting that they have already made contact about a possible transfer deal, but after admitting that he does not know if Barcelona are interested, he has also admitted that he is not thinking about his future just yet.
He told Onda Cero: ‘I don’t know if Barcelona wants me.
‘There is a lot of news that comes out and that we see, but I don’t know.
‘What I think about is to finish the league as good as possible and I leave that for later.
‘They are very serious things for me and these situations must be left for later. I am focused exclusively on playing and finishing the season with Sevilla as good as possible.’
Jame Carragher has claimed that Timo Werner would be the ideal signing for Jurgen Klopp to make.
Despite the fact that the Premier League season has been stopped and Liverpool have been stopped from winning the title, there has been alot of transfer speculation in the media suggesting that the Reds could make a summer move and acquire the services of Werner.
Werner has developed over the last few seasons into one of the most clinical finishers in the game and has constantly admitted his admiration for the likes of Liverpool, who have become one of the best sides in the game under the guidance of Jurgen Klopp.
Now Carragher he has advised Klopp to bring in a player like Werner who can provide serious competition to the front three, while adding a left-back to offer cover for Robertson: ‘I think if you look at the XI it’s very hard to actually improve that,’ Carragher told Sky Sports.
‘You can always improve but I’m talking about realistic targets coming into the team.
‘Liverpool at times have spent big money but I think under Klopp they’ve only signed [Takumi] Minamino in the last three or four transfer windows. I actually felt Liverpool did need reinforcements.
‘I just felt this team has been together for three or four years now, it’s almost been built from the first Champions League final they lost to Real Madrid. Really the first six hasn’t changed for the last two years.
‘That doesn’t mean it should change but I just think there should be something more in reserve.
‘I think Liverpool have been lucky that the best players, the most important players have never really suffered injury-wise. You think the front three, the two full backs and Virgil Van Dijk. They’re on that teamsheet every week and I just think, can there be more backup.
‘Certainly with Robertson at left-back. With Trent there’s a young player Neco Williams coming through. But I think Liverpool need more than Divock Origi to back up one of the front three when they’re out.
‘That’s why they’re being linked with Timo Werner, really. I think they need to invest to keep them where they are. Strong understudies to Andy Robertson and someone who is going to really push that front three.
“I think they need to spend themselves big and keep themselves ahead of the pack.’
