Arsenal legend announces Prem boss Howe to replace Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea?
Arsenal legend Paul Merson has claimed Chelsea could sack Maurizio Sarri and hire Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe.
Sarri was hired by owner Roman Abramovic last summer to help get Chelsea back challenging for the Premier League title and back into the Champions League spots, but despite the Italians run in the Europa League, the Italians first season has not been the best.
Sarri has been heavily criticised for many of his tactical decisions, his man management of top players and inability to get the Chelsea players up for the clubs biggest games of the season, contributing in the sides troubles in the Premier League.
And Merson claims that Howe could be the man that Abramovic hires, after becoming one of the most highly-rated managers in the Premier League, He told Sky Sports: ‘If Roman Abramovich is still there next year and he hasn’t sold the club, Eddie Howe could be the next manager of Chelsea.’
‘I think great. ‘He plays an expansive game of football. Chelsea fans want to see action and I know the owner doesn’t go as much now but he also wants to see action.
‘Sarri was brought in to play the Napoli way. Score lots of goals and play gung-ho football.
‘It was never going to happen but Howe plays that way. He opens the game up a lot better than Chelsea do.’
Sarri was brought in to help the club get back to the ery top of the game and get Chelsea challenging for all the top titles, but he has not had the impression that Abramovic wanted and there has been some doubts that he is the man to lead the club into a new era.
And although many fans still love teh Italian, he is just a couple of bad results away from getting the sack, meaning that Fans could see Howe arrive at the end of the season if Chelsea are in need of a top manager.
Howe has done a wonderful job at Bournemouth with the limited funds that he has had so given an opportunity at Chelsea, it would be interesting to see just what he could achieve at the very highest level of the game.
