Big decision! Premier League legend sends Chelsea message after Lampard makes huge decision!
Paul Merson felt Frank Lampard made a big decision in opting to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga for the game against Leicester and highlighted the importance of our next two Premier League games.
Kepa has been impressive since his mega money move to Chelsea just a few years ago, but over the past few weeks, the Blues fans have seen a dip in form from the young Spaniard and it has started causing cause for concern for boss Frank Lampard.
Lampard even dropped the young stopper for the big game against Leicester last weekend, leading many to believe that Lampard is now seeking to get rid of the young man and add a more experience ace to the side.
And Merson has claimed that it was a massive decision for Lampard to drop Kepa, telling the Sky Sports website: ‘I think that is one of his biggest decisions since he became a manager in football if I am being honest’
‘Willy Caballero made a mistake, which can happen when you change the goalies, but he is a decent person to come in. I know he made a mistake; he is probably too keen and he has not played for a while.’
Merson still believes the Blues are in a good position but our upcoming matches could be crucial for our Champions League ambitions.
‘I am all right with Chelsea at the moment, they have two big games coming up – Man Utd and Tottenham at home – if they win both of them, for me they will finish in the top four.
‘You have to remember that it was only a few weeks ago that they were ripping Tottenham to shreds at Tottenham’s ground.
‘A draw at Leicester is all right. Frank was a bit nervous as they have lost a few tight games this season when they should not have lost. They dominated that game against Leicester for long periods and could have lost it in the end.
‘So the next two home games are the ones – if they do not win either of them, I think they are in major trouble for top four. But if they win them, then I think the only ones who can catch them are Wolves.’
