Ex-Prem star shocked Arsenal have let Chelsea complete signing of ‘incredible’ attacker

Gunners Paul Merson has come out and claimed that he has been left stunned that Arsenal have allowed Chelsea to sign Pedro Neto from Wolves this summer window, as the attacker can be unplayable when he is fully fit.

CHELSEA made the very surprising decision to sign Pedro Neto last week after news broke that he could be on the market this summer if the right amount of money was paid.

The Portuguese star has been plagued by injuries during his time in the Premier League – but he is rated very highly by the biggest clubs and Arsenal were one of the sides that were reportedly interested in signing the winger.

However – with Mikel Arteta already having a number of wingers at the club – Arsenal never made their move for the attacker and Merson believes the club may live to regret that decision, as he could have been a very good signing.

‘If Chelsea can keep him fit, I think it is an incredible signing,’ the former Arsenal star said on Sky Sports.

If you want to play a certain way of football, similar to Man City and Arsenal where they play two wide players and get the ball out – this is what Chelsea need to do.

‘If you can get Neto on the pitch, he is top draw. I think Arsenal missed a trick with him. If he goes to Arsenal he takes the workload of [Bukayo] Saka and [Gabriel] Martinelli.

CHELSEA were very shrewd – they did it very quickly and very quietly. [it’s a] good signing.’

If Pedro Neto stays fit – if he plays on a weekly basis – he will be a very good signing for Chelsea – but his injury issues are a real concern and that is probably why Arsenal did not make a move for the ace.

We doubt that Arsenal will regret not signing Neto – but it will be interesting to watch him for CHELSEA this season
