Midfielder reveals ‘real reason’ why Arsenal transfer deal announced

Former Arsenal captain, Granit Xhaka, has opened up on the real reasons he decided to leave the Gunners this summer.

Xhaha was a massive part of that ARSENAL side last season and is still a big time player for the Gunners – although he has had to make way for Thomas Partey and Martin Odegaard.

It had been claimed that Leverkusen were keen to take him to the Bundesliga this summer window and it has also been claimed that he is open to that potential switch.

Rumours had been circling for weeks about the potential deal – but the move has been confirmed by the Gunners and the German side last week and Xhaka seems very happy with the move.

WHAT HAS BEEN SAID –

“There was speculation everywhere that my wife was no longer happy in England. That is not at all true,” Xhaka told Keystone-SDA.

“The fact is that as a person I am always interested in new challenges. After seven years, the time has come for something completely new.

‘The league is not new, but the club is. During the talks with Simon Rolfes [sporting director] and Xabi Alonso, I felt that the long-term project at Leverkusen was worthwhile and that it was 100% in line with me,” he added.

RIGHT TIME FOR XHAKA TO LEAVE?

Xhaka has had a love hate relationship with the ARSENAL fans for a very long time – but at the end of the day – this was the right time to move on – he was going to fall down the pecking order with the signings that expected to come to the club.

This was definitely the right time for him to depart the Emirates.
