Midfielder speaks on Man United links – Dutchman told to make move – United told £65M to sign defender

Here is a roundup of the top Manchester United news and gossip tat we think you guys may have missed today –

Manchester United have been told how much they would have to splash for Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi.

Over the last few seasons – Manchester United have been spending some serious money in hope that they could keep pon challenging for Champions League football and possibly that Premier League title.

There is still alot of speculation surrounding the players that Ten hag will look to sign during the summer, especially now that they will be losing Rafa Varane after the decision was for him to leave the club at the end of the month.

That has led to some rumours in the media which have claimed that Manchester United and Tottenham are both ready to battle it out for the signature of Guehi – who has been impressing at Palace this season.

According to The Telegraph, Palace would demand at least £65million with Guehi’s contract up in 2026.

And reporter Iomie Stanley thinks that signing Guehi would be a wise move for the Red Devils, he told icfootballnews:‘Marc Guehi would be a great signing for the likes of Man United.

‘He’s been knocking on the door of the top clubs for a few seasons now. He’s English, he’s young with good technical ability on the ball and he’s quick so he’s a modern centre back.

‘He’s decent enough in the air to cope and he’s got a great attitude. He’s a good character around the dressing room and is ready for that next step in his career.

‘Man United may not be the club that they once were – but it would be a massive move for the lad to make and one that would certainly be a step up from where he is now.’

TEN HAG TOLD TO LEAVE –

Erik Ten Hag has been encouraged to leave Manchester United this summer by pundits Gary Lineker and Micah Richards.

Ten Hag’s position came under massive scrutiny during Manchester United’s dismal Premier League 2023-24 campaign, as The Red Devils slumped to their lowest-ever Premier League finish.

The Dutchman managed to stun Manchester City in that FA Cup final – but that did not stop the United board from speaking to possible candidates about taking over from Ten Hag at some point this summer window.

And after Ten Hag admitted that he knew that the Manchester United board had been speaking to his possible replacements – the Dutch boss has been urged to leave Man United this summer: ‘One new story before we finish,’ the Match of the Day host said on The Rest is Football podcast after discussing England’s opening Euro 2024 win over Serbia.

‘Erik ten Hag, who has been working on Dutch TV, has admitted United told him they spoke to Thomas Tuchel.

‘It’s strange behaviour from the club and odd that he would admit that. It’s poor from the club. It’s extraordinary. I’ve never known anything like this.

‘Who knows what will happen there because he also said they need to discuss a new contract. In his defence, and he deserves to be defended, he’s won two trophies at the club.’

Micah Richards, meanwhile, said he would have walked away from the job had he been in Ten Hag’s position.

‘He’s been disrespected,’ the former Manchester City defender said. ‘How bad is that?

‘We were talking about Jim Ratcliffe coming in and changing things, hiring proper football people, and then you hear stories like this. It’s ridiculous.

‘How can you do that? If I was the manager I would say, no problem, this isn’t for me. I don’t think it’s fair what’s happened.’

HJULMADN SPEAKS ON RUMOURS –

Sporting star Morten and Manchester United target Hjulmand has distanced himself from speculation that he could be set for a high-profile summer move

Hjulmand enjoyed an excellent debut season in Portugal after swapping Lecce for Sporting last summer, the 24-year-old made 49 appearances in all competitions across the 2023/24 campaign, providing three goals and two assists.

His performances last season has led to alot of transfer speculation in the media that Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag is keen to take the midfielder to Old Trafford at some point this transfer window

But it appears Denmark’s Euro 2024 campaign has Hjulmand’s full focus and the ex-Lecce man and is not even considering a move away from Sporting, with his country battling it out in with England, Serbia and Slovenia in Group C.

‘The transfer market? But I’m already playing for a very big team,’ Hjulmand told A Bola when asked whether an impressive tournament in Germany could attract potential suitors in the wake of Denmark’s 1-1 draw with Slovenia.

‘Right now I’m focused on the national team. We will try to get three points on Thursday.

‘We will talk about this after those games.’

‘I think the team we have now is very strong, but that’s a question for the Sporting director, not for me,’ he continued.

‘I’m focused on the national team now, then I’ll be ready for a new season at Sporting.’

We are sure that Hjulmand is a very good player and did have a good season last year – but at the end of the day guys – he would not improve that United midfield and would not make the side any better.

Manchester United need to make some statement signings – not average signings – they already have enough of them at the club.
