Mikel Arteta urged to ‘take out chequebook’ and sign top Arsenal target
Piers Morgan has urged Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta to take his chequebook out and sign Ivan Toney from Brentford.
The Gunners ended 2023 in poor fashion, as their inability to score goals meant that they are no longer top of the Premier League and are five points behind Liverpool in the chase for that title
That has led to all sorts of speculation in the media that Ivan Toney is the man that Mikel Arteta, and most of the ARSENAL fans, are very keen to see arrive over the next few weeks.
The big powerhouse banged in 20 goals for Brentford last season and is easily regarded as one of the best forwards in the Premier League, despite the fact he has been out of action for a few months due to his off field antics.
The Englishman, 27, has served his ban and is eligible to play again for Brentford. He has announced that he is free and is expected to feature against Nottingham Forest this weekend.
Toney has also publicly claimed that he would love to play for a big club one day, and Piers seems to see that as Toney ‘begging’ for a move away, and he has now urged Mikel Arteta to ‘stop being so stubborn’ and to go and sign the Brentford striker.

The Sun columnist said: “The January transfer window closes in 14 days but Arsenal still haven’t signed a striker despite proven goalscorers like @ivantoney24 almost begging to go to a big club.
“What are you waiting for @m8arteta? Stop being so stubborn about your ‘process’ & get your chequebook out.”
