FFP to help Arsenal seal summer deal for brilliant £60 million AC Milan star Donnarumma?
Reports have claimed that AC Milan may have to cash in on Arsenal target Gigi Donnarumma this summer.
Petr Cech has decided that this season will be his last in a Gunners shirt and will hang up his gloves after many years of top-level Premier League success with both the Arsenal and London rivals Chelsea.
The news that he is retiring will now mean that Unai Emery will need to delve into his transfer kitty and bring in another stopper to compete with current number one Bernd Leno, who has firmly established himself at the Emirates since his move to the club last summer.
And that has led to speculation which has claimed Emery is said to be looking at Donnarumma as his long-term no.1 despite Leno currently holding that position.
The 20-year-old is rated as one of the most talented ‘keepers in world football and has been linked with the likes of Manchester United, Real Madrid and Chelsea over the past few seasons, as reports suggest he is seeking a big money move away from Serie A football.
And now reports on the Calciomercato website have claimed to fall in line with FFP, AC Milan may have to cash in on Donnarumma this summer, with a fee of around £60 million wanted for the big Italian ace.
Losing Cech will be a massive blow to Emery as he adds some experience and leadership to the club, but if he managed to pull off a transfer deal to sign the brilliantly gifted Donnarumma, it would be a massive signing for the club.
The Italian is as good as they come right now and has the potential to become one of the greatest stoppers in football, with many already comparing him to Italian legend Gianluigi Buffon.
If the Gunners manage to get Champions League football next season, Emery should be given in excess of £100 million to spend, and spending a big chunk of that on Donnarumma would add another 15-20 points in the Premier League.
