Lampard has been urged to make transfer move and sign this £50 million rated replacement for struggling kepa

Former Premier League defender Danny Mills has urged Chelsea to sign Burnley and England goalkeeper Nick Pope to replace struggling Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Now look, we all know that Frank Lampard is not happy with the performances of Kepa, who has not developed during his time at the Bridge and is just an average stopper that could easily be replaced.

That has led to some big speculation in the media which has suggested that Chelsea are looking to sign up Jan Oblak in the transfer window, with the Madrid stopper one of the very best in the game

However, Madrid will only open talks about a possible transfer deal in the summer if clubs meet their £110 million asking price, and with Chelsea seeking to bolster a few areas, that is maybe a fee that they do not want to pay and they have now been linked with Pope

Since joining Burnley from Charlton Athletic in 2016, Pope has established himself as one of the most reliable goalkeepers in the Premier League and made two appearances for England.

And with the transfer window now in full swing, Mills has urged Lampard to try and get a deal done for Pope: ‘I think Pope is ready to be a goalkeeper at an elite club,’ Mills, who enjoyed spells at Leeds United, Manchester City and Charlton, told Football Insider. ‘There will always be people that question his distribution but he has never been asked to play that way so we do not know if it is a massive issue or not. I do not buy into that. He can certainly adapt.

‘Chelsea are not buying Nick Pope for the future, they are buying Nick Pope for now. If they want to go and challenge next season they need a keeper now.

‘That is what Liverpool did with Alisson. They did not wait for some kid, they addressed the situation.’

Pope is solid and reliable and has been decent in the Premier League, but look, he is not good enough to replace Kepa and would probably struggle to reach the level that Chelsea need him to be.

If Chelsea are to spend £50 million on a stopper, go for Victor Onana, Gianluigi Donnarumma, players that are proven at the top that are worth that kind of money.
