And according to Romano discussions have been ongoing between the two parties for even if it’s not been presented yet.

“Despite some speculation doing the rounds, I’m told there have been talks ongoing for a long time between Mason Mount and Chelsea,” Romano explained.

“It’s still not done but it’s under discussion, and for Chelsea it’s seen as an important priority to extend Mount’s deal.

When asked who would have the edge in January, Hutton told Football Insider: “I would lean towards Chelsea because of Graham Potter.

“He knows the player well, you have got that link. So, the opportunity to go to a top club, where your previous manager is who knows you, knows how to get the best out of you.

“I think he would maybe lean towards that.“

And that has led to speculation in the media that Chelsea have been keen to secure the services of Nkunku after failing to sign the attacker during the summer transfer window – despite numerous offers

He said: “I don’t think they have any reason to worry about Nkunku. That one seems to have been something that they can close pretty much when they want to, and that will help.”
