New signing ‘gives us everything we need’, Jose backed for Tottenham success and Fans react to possible arrival of Bale

Spurs sent Hojbjerg message, Fans react to possible summer signing of Bale and Modric backs Mourinho for Tottenham success in Tottenham roundup..

Tottenham Hotspur defender Eric Dier has opened up about new team-mate Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Hojbjerg had been with Southampton since 2016, when he joined from Bayern Munich for a reported £12.8million, and made 134 appearances in all competitions for them prior to joining Spurs.

He was a shock signing for Joe Mourinho, who is seeking to make his side more solid ahead of the opening of the new Premier League season, and after seeing Hojbjerg make that move to the club, Dier has opened up on his new team-mate.

“ After seeing him more closely since he arrived at Tottenham, he’s a great player,” Dier said of Hojbjerg, as quoted by the Evening Standard.

“He’s going to bring a lot to the Tottenham team. He has attributes that we’ve been missing.

“He’s very professional, he has a fantastic attitude and work rate and I think he brings leadership qualities as well.

“He speaks a lot on the pitch, he pushes his teammates and he demands things from his teammates.

“In the way that he plays, he’s quite combative and aggressive and brings more fight to the midfield, which is good for us.”

Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting to reports that Gareth Bale could be making a move back to the club this summer.

Tottenham have not done that much transfer business over the last few weeks of the transfer window, as their budget is not that high with all the costs that the club have had to pay out for that new Stadium.

But one headline that has been dominating the media over the past few days is one that Bale could make a sensational move back to the club, as he is done over at Real Madrid and is keen to leave the Spaniards.

Marca reported this week that head coach Jose Mourinho is all for trying to make it happen, But with Bale earning £600,000 per week in the Spanish capital, there are so many financial obstacles for Tottenham to overcome.

However, The Telegraph have reported that Real are willing to pay 50 percent of the 31-year-old’s salary and it could pave the way for a return to the Premier League, and a chance for Tottenham to sign their former hero.

But they would still have to fork out for the Welshman and pay upto £300,000-a-week to get him signed up, a wage that may still be too far out of the budget for the club, but heres how Tottenham fans on Twitter have reacted to this potential boost:

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has been backed to deliver trophies by ex-star Luka Modric.

Mourinho has had a stuttering start to life as Tottenham boss and just about salvaged a top six place last season and the chance to play in the Europa League this coming seasons.

But there have been doubts that the man that couldnt stop winning trophies, will be able to give Tottenham the one thing they have been missing in recent seasons, a nice new trophy to add to that cabinet.

Mourinho has picked up major silverware at every single club he’s managed, most notably winning three Premier League titles over the course of two spells at Chelsea and conquering the Champions League with both Porto and Inter.

He even managed to win the Carabao Cup and Europa League during his previous role at Manchester United, and Modric has opened up and told fans that Mourinho is the man that will lead the club to success.

Asked if Mourinho is capable of ushering in a new era of success at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Modric told The Times: “Yes, definitely.

“I have a special affection for him, for everything he meant for me. Tottenham did a great thing to appoint him as a manager because he is a proven winner.

“In Italy, England and Spain he won things and he knows how to win. I am hoping he manages to do the same thing with Spurs.

“It’s a great thing for Tottenham to be able to bring in someone like him.

“He wins everywhere. Even when people say, ‘Ah, he didn’t win in Manchester [United]’. He won the Europa League and other cups [League Cup in the 2016-17 season] because of his quality.

“He knows how to transport his energy to the players. If I had to say one thing [that he does differently to other managers] it is how he prepares for games.

“It’s something unbelievable, he gives you everything you need to know about the teams, where to make damage and exploit them.”

Many Tottenham fans have their doubts about what Mourinho can bring to the club, but he has proven himself to be a winner, so he will surely win something?
